Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Kenneth Fields. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Kenneth, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
My Mom gave birth to me at 15 years old at my Aunt Martha’s. Although she became an unexpected young Momma, she managed to graduate as Valedictorian of my High School Graduating Class. She did not go to college but she instilled high expectations in me, in particular with academics. I also had Aunts who inspired me to excel and always represent my ancestors. I never took my opportunities for granted. My ancestors were ingenious, kind, faithful, and determined to persevere against all of life’s obstacles.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Interesting Fact: During my IT work on a new Child Support Enforcement System for the State of Kansas, I will featured in a state-wide video on Child Support.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1) Accountability – My upbringing and 28-year US Army endeavor elevated my will to be responsible for my actions to family, mentors, US Army subordinates, and US Army peers (Officers) and US Army superiors.
2) Perseverance – Expect, relish, and overcome obstacles
3) Respect – Embrace life as an opportunity to acknowledge goals, assist with achievements, inspire excellence, assist without any stipulations, and motivate others to overcome the challenges of others.
Advice:
Develop realistic and measurable criteria, embrace the feedback of others, and appreciate life’s journey
Talk to your elders and become experts in their journeys and compare their experiences with yours. Learn and seek guidance from others. Avoid Toxic relationships and unfulfilling engagements with disrespectful, unkind, selfish, and self-centered people.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
Ensured that I spent significant time with the elders, built a legacy of impactful achievement that inspired and ensured the success of others, and respect for others.
