We were lucky to catch up with Kt Calibur recently and have shared our conversation below.

Kt , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

Standing out as yourself and not being to impulsive. You have to know your roll and know when to add you peices to the collection. Being quiet and reading the room, studying how everyone operates only to figure out how to distinguish yourself from others.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a Hip Hop artist from Los Angeles, Ca. The Land. All the way down to my roots yet still multicultural. So much style and swag with the art from where I grew up is a part of why I’m so diverse and conceptual with my music.

There’s nothing that I haven’t been more passionate about than music and being from my city.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Individual mindset – No one can take advantage of you and you can pave your own path.

Determination – Nothing will stop you from achieving any goal.

Passion – Keep that fire burning to take it from a campfire to a wildfire.
