Meet Jany Rodriguez

We recently connected with Jany Rodriguez and have shared our conversation below.

Jany, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Life is full of changes, some expected and others unexpected. Having emigrated has led me to learn to adapt and move forward regardless of the difficulties. I see each challenge as an opportunity to learn and improve, always keeping my desire to excel and achieve my dreams and goals firm.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Jany Rodriguez, a Venezuelan Fashion Designer. I studied Fashion Design in Venezuela and specialized in Haute Couture. I also had the opportunity to work in wardrobe for two television channels in my country. I emigrated with my family to Mexico in 2014, where we lived for three years. In 2017, we moved to the United States, and since then, I have lived in Louisville, Kentucky, with my husband and three children. In my search to continue practicing my profession, I found great inspiration in the Kentucky Derby. I started designing Hats and Fascinators for this grand event and participating in fairs, fashion shows, and local events to showcase my work. Currently, in addition to creating Hat and Fascinator designs, I also design and sew dresses. I have created two new lines of Clothing and Accessories:

**Second Life** is based on the design and production of clothing and accessories using embellishment and upcycling techniques. I aim to give a second chance to used clothing, whether by maintaining the original garment or using the material to create new pieces. Each design is exclusive and personalized, allowing my clients to express their unique style while supporting sustainable fashion.

**Brillo y Encanto** specializes in handbags and accessories such as ties and items made with beads and pearls. This line also focuses on personalization and design exclusivity, allowing customers to obtain unique pieces that stand out for their elegance and detail.

My goal is to reach an audience that values craftsmanship and sustainable fashion, and is

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Being persistent is something very important and necessary to achieve success, never give up until you achieve the desired goals.
Value and take advantage of every opportunity that presents itself, always keep in mind the learning from each experience lived because they can be the basis for achieving our goals. And finally, never stop dreaming and have faith that all dreams can come true as long as you work with love and passion.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who values artisanal work and exclusivity in their clothing and accessories.
Mainly business women, elegant women or those who simply like to look good and stand out by expressing their individuality. They are willing to pay for the quality, customization and exclusivity of their designs, thus achieving unique pieces that reflect their personality.
