Hi Jordan, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

I developed my ability to take risks from a young age. I remember selling lemonade at the local car wash, which was one of my first entrepreneurial activities. As I got older, I continued to engage in various ventures, such as selling items at a toy conference. I always had a desire to build something of my own and be my own boss, which naturally led me to take risks. It was more about my passion for entrepreneurship than a conscious decision to take risks. Over the years, I’ve quit stable jobs to start new companies multiple times, demonstrating my willingness to jump into the unknown and embrace risk.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m the CEO and founder of Ryz Labs, a startup studio and staffing company. My days are spent focusing on both our internal teams and working with clients to ensure their success and continued innovation in building new products. This involves everything from collaborating with our social and engineering teams, meeting with clients, working with recruiters, and developing products and services, to handling accounting and finance to ensure smooth business operations.

Recently, we’ve been growing our main business, Ryz Labs HC, a staffing business. However, what’s even more exciting is our work in the AI space. This year, we’ve launched two new startups: one focused on AI-based sales and another on AI-based social communication. It’s incredibly exciting to see how AI is transforming opportunities, allowing us to build these businesses and improve them in real-time as new AI models are introduced. Building in the AI space is a unique challenge due to its rapid evolution, but it’s also extremely rewarding as it opens up new possibilities with each technological advancement.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I believe three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge were most impactful in my journey. Firstly, the diversity of building different businesses provided me with various perspectives on different markets, understanding customer reactions, and selling at different price points. Secondly, attending college was crucial as it gave me a solid foundation in business fundamentals. Working in a foreign country like Argentina and building a business there also played a significant role in shaping my entrepreneurial skills. Lastly, my experience working at Amazon for five years allowed me to witness firsthand how leading tech companies develop new technology and innovation.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to seek diverse experiences to gain multiple perspectives, invest in education to build a strong foundation in business fundamentals and look for opportunities in challenging environments to develop resilience and adaptability. Additionally, gaining experience in well-established companies can provide valuable insights into best practices and innovation.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

The number one obstacle we are currently facing is the economic uncertainty that persists, making long-term investment challenging. Additionally, we are always in search of great people, which is a constant struggle. We focus on building robust processes to find and retain talented individuals who can help us innovate and grow. Lastly, keeping up with the latest trends, particularly in AI, is another significant challenge. The rapid evolution of AI features impacts both the development of new companies and our day-to-day business operations.
