We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Annie Espinosa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Annie below.
Annie, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I believe it’s a mix of luck, trust, acceptance, embracing the paths life has shown me, and most importantly, it’s been about getting to know myself and discovering what truly brings me joy and excitement. Since moving to LA, I’ve encountered a lot of opportunities I never imagined about. Now, I’m pursuing old and new dreams, and they all come together to form my purpose: learning about and sharing well-being.
We often think we need to do complex things to find peace of mind and care for ourselves, but sometimes, it’s the simple actions that make the most difference. Being mindful of our breathing or making small changes, like choosing healthy socks over regular ones, can help us feel better now and take care of ourselves for the future.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m deeply passionate about all forms of creative expression, and entrepreneurship has given me the opportunity to combine my love for photography, design, and product creation while making a meaningful impact. It has also allowed me to address some of my biggest concerns, particularly my health, as someone living with an immunological condition since my early 20s. Now in my early 30s I’ve found joy in connecting with a wellness community that shares my commitment to a healthy lifestyle and preventive care.
This passion led me to create Venasense, a brand of healthy socks that embodies what I’ve experienced and liked of California: embracing a healthy lifestyle, caring for well-being, being mindful and caring for the environment. At the same time, Venasense reflects my deep connection to my roots in Colombia, a country renowned for its high-quality apparel manufacturing, particularly in swimwear and underwear apparel.
Venasense was born from my desire to create a product that resonates with people who value self-care, comfort, and style in their daily routines. Our compression socks are designed in California and manufactured in Colombia, combining the best of both worlds. They are made with high-quality fabrics and advanced technology to provide comfort, style, and well-being, while also preventing and treating cardiovascular conditions.
I believe that small changes can lead to significant benefits, which is why I only wear compression socks.
If we’re going to wear socks every day, why not choose ones that help us feel better and protect our health for the future?
They’re a daily preventive power boost that enhances energy, balance, and comfort while avoiding varicose veins, blood clots, swelling and pain. Our compression socks are for adults of all ages, from athletes, students or professionals that stay in the same position for a long period of time, to travelers who seek comfort while being on a plane or walking long distances. Or for concert, festival, or adventure park enthusiasts who want to avoid feeling exhausted and experiencing foot and leg pain by the end of the day.
We recently launched our website, it was a labor of love, I’m incredibly proud of the result and confident that our socks will help many people feel their best and I’m thrilled to share them with the world. If you’re curious, take a look! We’ve got national shipping and great prices. Check it out at www.venasense.com.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Staying consistent: Love and passion for what we do usually moves us, but when things get hard, be consistent.
Learning, overcoming obstacles, and not giving up, especially when life gets tough, is what I believe truly make dreams come true.
2. Being kind: Kindness brings joy to both you and those around you. What you give is what you attract, and my support system has been a crucial part of this journey. I’m still dreaming because of them.
3. Staying flexible and curious: Life often gives you what you want, but not always in the way you expected.
Embrace what comes, adapt as needed, and take charge of your journey by keeping your curiosity alive! learn, explore, and ask questions, pivot and find new ways of doing what you want. Life is full of wonders, and there’s always something new to learn. Curiosity also strengthens creativity and problem-solving skills. 🙂
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I’m still learning every day, but these strategies have made a big difference in my journey and maybe they can help you too:
Write it down: I find that putting everything on paper clears my mind. It helps me organize thoughts, prioritize tasks, and break down big goals into manageable tasks. For example, instead of “Build a Brand,” which is a huge task, I split it into smaller, manageable tasks like audience research, brand voice and personality, typography, photographic style, color palette, etc.
Yoga and Mindfulness: These practices have been game changers for me. They help me connect with my body and mind, recognize when it’s time to rest, and use different mindfulness and yoga practices to stay grounded, like practicing conscious breathing, it’s a tool that we always have with us and has so many benefits!
Shift perspective: When things feel too intense, I pause and try to view the situation from a different angle, it makes me find clarity, make things feel less personal and allow me to explore new approaches.
Connect with nature and loved ones: Spending time outdoors or with those I care about recharges me.
Exercise: Whether it’s walking, yoga, or pilates, moving my body (obviously with my compression socks on) makes my brain work differently. The days I exercise everything feel a bit more manageable.
