We were lucky to catch up with Glenn Deneve recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Glenn, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I always knew I wanted to be an artist, but finding my true purpose within the realm of art was a journey that unfolded over several years. Both of my parents were highly involved in the arts and Initially, I was drawn to painting because I loved the tactile nature of the medium and the vibrant colors. My early work was all about experimenting with different techniques and styles.
Looking back, I see that my journey to finding my artistic purpose was a combination of exploration, self-reflection, and a willingness to embrace new experiences. It’s a continual process, and I’m excited to see where it leads me next.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I started as a hairstylist and worked my way up to attending to the most influential people in Hollywood, working at my friend Christophe in his Beverly Hills Salon and making art as a hobby in the years 2010; my clients ended up buying my art and spreading the word so my art business started taking off around 2012 and grew exponentially. As of now, I am dividing my time between doing my hair for clients and making art, which turns out to be a perfect balance.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Hone your skills constantly / listen to feedback from people about your work / stay true to yourself.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client both in hair and my art business are influent people who are well connected and have the means of getting the highest quality of service.
For my art in particular, new home owners, people who are looking for art for their offices, art collectors, interior designers etc…
