Meet Sheena Aaron

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sheena Aaron a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Sheena, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

For me developing confidence and self esteem was a process and an ongoing one at that. Honestly, Confidence didn’t come to me overnight; it was more like a slow process that took time to master. When I first stepped in front of the camera, I was a bundle of nerves, but each shoot, each pose, each page I wrote, each time I spoke, a little more sparkle to my self-esteem. It was through repeated exposure—embracing the vulnerability that comes with modeling lingerie and bikinis—that I found my power. The more I saw myself through the lens, the more I started to believe in the woman staring back at me. Over time, this day in day out battle, along with a lot of self-love, allowed my confidence to grow. Now, I walk into every shoot with the kind of energy that says, ‘You Are Enough, Period.’ It’s been a journey, but every step has been worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, andself-awareness.

1. Resilience: The modeling and entertainment industry can be tough, and writing books takes a great amount of focus. There were countless times when I faced rejection, criticism, or even self-doubt. But resilience kept me going. It’s not about never falling; it’s about how quickly you get back up and how you learn from those falls. My advice to anyone starting out is to embrace setbacks as part of the process. Every ‘no’ is one step closer to a ‘yes,’ and every challenge is an opportunity to grow stronger.

2. Adaptability: The world of marketing, modeling, and even publishing is constantly evolving. Trends change, social media algorithms shift, and what worked yesterday might not work tomorrow. Being adaptable has allowed me to stay relevant and continue to thrive. For those early in their journey, my advice is to stay curious and be willing to learn. Don’t get too attached to one way of doing things. Instead, be open to change and continuously seek out new knowledge and skills.

3. Self-Awareness: Understanding who I am, what I stand for, and where I want to go has been crucial. Self-awareness has guided my decisions, kept me aligned with my goals, and allowed me to stay authentic in everything I do. For those starting out, take the time to really get to know yourself. What are your strengths? What are your passions? What makes you unique? The clearer you are on these things, the more focused and intentional you can be in your journey.

To anyone just beginning, focus on developing these qualities. Resilience will keep you in the game, adaptability will keep you ahead of the curve, and self-awareness will ensure that your journey is true to who you are. Remember, it’s a marathon, not a sprint, and every step you take brings you closer to your dreams. Just take a step.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

Girlboss” by Sophia Amoruso is celebrated as an empowering book for women, particularly those in fashion. Sophia Amoruso’s journey from a rebellious teenager with a string of odd jobs to the founder and CEO of the multimillion-dollar fashion retailer Nasty Gal is both relatable and motivating. Her story demonstrates that success can come from unconventional paths, encouraging women to embrace their unique qualities and entrepreneurial spirit. The term “Girlboss” has become synonymous with a generation of women who are unapologetically ambitious and driven. The book has played a significant role in shaping the modern narrative of female entrepreneurship, particularly in creative industries like fashion. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to find their way.
