Meet Sandra Isa

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sandra Isa. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sandra, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

Through creating art, especially music. Coming from an artistic family full of musicians, dancers, and writers. you could say I have it in my blood I could tell it was written in my destiny. Through music, I found a way to articulate my innermost thoughts and feelings, For me, It is about creating art that resonates with people on a deeper level and inspires them to explore their own emotions.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I grew up in a family of artists, which significantly influenced my decision to pursue a music career. I started singing from a young age and it was an enriching experience; by the age of six, I was participating in national competitions and performing on big stages. Over time, I realized that my passion went beyond just singing; I loved creating. I began writing poems and, with a guitar that my dad bought on sale, I composed my first songs at 14. I also asked my parents to let me take piano lessons, an instrument that has always fascinated me and remains my favorite for writing songs to this day.

I studied music in college, specializing in songwriting and those college years were the best of my life. I Met wonderful and talented people who were seeking the same things as I and working as hard as they could to pursuit their dreams.

There is nothing that makes me happier than creating melodies and lyrics that capture people’s attention and make them feel understood. My love for composing and my desire to explore the world led me to move from Lima, Peru, to Los Angeles, seeking more opportunities to live off what I love doing. Arriving in LA has been an incredible experience; I am learning a lot about the industry and feel like I am becoming a part of it. Although I know I still have a long way to go, I am convinced that I am on the right path.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I believe the three most important skills/Qualities that I always keep in mind are 1) discipline; I always remember that %20 is talent and the other %80 is constant practice and learning for good results. As artists, we always want to deliver the best of us in every song or piece of art we create. Therefore, we need discipline and remain organized to accomplish our goals with our art. This also allows us to remain on track and utilize our creativity. 2) The ability to take criticism helped me improve my confidence and build resilience for whatever may come in the future. it also offers new perspectives and ideas that you might not have considered, 3) “Be creative”. I always remember that %20 is talent and the other %80 is constant practice and learning for good results. As artists, we always want to deliver the best of us in every song or piece of art we create. Therefore, we need discipline and remain organized to accomplish our goals with our art. This also allows us to remain on track and utilize our creativity.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes! I would love to work with more people in the Latino community. I co-wrote songs for other artists and would love to keep doing it. It is always challenging and fun to write music for other artists with different styles from yours. I also enjoy listening to K-pop but have not had that many opportunities to work and write for K-pop artists. , just a few. So I would also love to work with people involved in the K-pop industry.
