We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lan Bun. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lan below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Lan with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I got my work ethic from my father. Im grateful for the opportunity to be able to come to america and live the life my father has created for me. Seeing him work tirelessly to provide for our family, and growing up in housing has a huge impact on my life. Therefore, I try my best each to do better not only in the things that I do but also be a better person for my daughter and family.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Im the creator of Drip Drip Coffeehouse. I do the research and development of the recipes and source the supplies. I love this aspect of the job because I get to experiment with different coffee blends, flavors and brewing techniques that creates our flavor of coffee. This is especially important because it keeps me on top of trends. Also, this allows for collaboration across different markets. Our brand is all about ” there’s a place for everyone,” which means that our brand pushes for a space that everyone can come in to enjoy either coffee or tea. Even have dates with their little one. As we expand we will incorporate more kids friendly drink and non caffeinated drinks as well.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being adaptive to changes and be willing to accept the challenges. The other skillset that is impactful to me through this journey is learning to listen and take constructive feedback. Listening to what others think about preferences and taking that into consideration. In this business you have to think of others and not yourself because at the end of the day you are selling to the customers. So its very important to listen to the wants and needs of the customers. Being able to take constructive feedback because we want to be able to improve.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I am overwhelmed I always take a deep breath. Learning to prioritize what is the most important thing and creating a checklist and going off of that. Taking notes and prioritizing what need to get done first that cannot wait. Thats my strategy that has helped me get through a busy and stressful day.
