Meet Kimberly Daniele-shapiro

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimberly Daniele-shapiro a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Kimberly, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.

For me, it was a journey of embracing the reality that our field is constantly evolving, and there’s always more to learn. I’ve come to realize that I’ll never know it all – and that’s okay! Every child I work with presents unique challenges and opportunities, pushing me to grow and adapt my skills. By acknowledging that I don’t have all the answers, I’ve become a more confident and effective therapist. I’m empowered to ask questions, explore new approaches, and trust my instincts.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As the founder of Totally Kids Pediatric Therapy, I’m thrilled to share my passion with you! As an occupational therapist, I have the privilege of helping children unlock their full potential and overcome challenges that impact their daily lives in the comfort of their home. What I find most exciting is witnessing the “aha” moments when a child masters a new skill or finds a creative solution to a problem. It’s incredibly rewarding to see the confidence and joy that comes with it! At Totally Kids, we’re dedicated to providing personalized, play-based therapy that makes learning fun and engaging. Our team of experienced therapists is committed to empowering children and families with the tools and strategies they need to thrive. We believe that every child deserves to shine, and we’re honored to be a part of their journey!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey as an occupational therapist and founder of Totally Kids Pediatric Therapy, I’ve identified three key qualities that have been most impactful:

1. Humility and willingness to learn. Starting small and being open to learning from others’ experiences, successes, and mistakes has been invaluable. Be humble, ask questions, and seek mentorship. Attend workshops, conferences, and online courses to stay updated on best practices and research.
2. Be prepared to step out of your comfort zone, and don’t be afraid to try new approaches. Develop coping strategies to manage stress and prioritize self-care.
3. Building relationships with colleagues, healthcare professionals, and community members has been priceless. These connections have led to valuable referrals, partnerships, and opportunities for growth. Attend local events, join professional organizations, and engage in online forums to connect with others in your field. Nurture these relationships by offering support, sharing knowledge, and celebrating each other’s successes.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
