Meet Bob Hord

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Bob Hord. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Bob below.

Hi Bob , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

As an artist, my self confidence comes from people apprecating my work well enough to purchase it.
As a commercial artist, seeking me out to promote their product or as a fine artist producing art that they want to hang on their wall.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

At a very early age I knew art was my primary interest. From doing cartoons of my high school teachers in school to doing small ads for the local newspapers and finally attending the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida.
In my senior year, I was hired by Hallmark Cards in Kansas City where I developed a paper sculpture style where paper is cut and assembled with spacers giving a deminsional look.
I later used this style in my fine art.
My next job was Mattel Toys in California and in the mid seventies I decided to be a freelance artist And never looked back.

I’m an old man now but still am thankful to have the desire to create..

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Follow your dream.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?

As a commercial artist, my ideal client is one that is opened to my ideas and is as willing to work with me as I am with them.
