Meet Cassie Lopez Mallory Kincaid

Hi Cassie Lopez, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
We met as middle school teachers and owe so much of our success to our careers as educators. Teachers work so incredibly hard for their kids. Our careers in the classroom taught us to be organized, pivot, problem solve, reflect, and so much more. All of these skills tie into wedding planning, entrepreneurship in general, and our overall work ethic. We built our business while being full time teachers for three years. That hustle around the clock set us up for success once we were ready to be full time business owners. The motivation to not return to the classroom keeps us moving forward and encourages us to keep working hard every single day!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
We have our own meet cute! We met as middle school teachers in the copy room and instantly clicked. After a few seconds we had a plan to leave teaching and after a few months Wild Social was born. Mallory didn’t love her wedding and wished she could go back in time and plan a wedding that was intimate and authentic to her and her husband. Using Mallory’s own experience we created a micro wedding company that focuses on creating a stress free experience for our couples. We have a team of in-house vendors that travel all over Colorado and the surrounding states to deliver beautiful weddings for our couples and up to 50 guests. We provide planning, styling, design, rentals, decor, floral, cake, and cupcakes. We also include a mobile bar from our other business, The Wandering Wagon. The planning process is designed to make planning seamless on our couple’s end. Our teacher skills shine here! We have clickable, fillable, and visual forms that leave just the fun stuff for our couples. No decision fatigue here! We handle the behind the scenes details so our clients can be a guest at their own wedding!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being reflective, having a positive outlook, and social media skills played a huge part in our success. We are constantly thinking of ways we can improve all areas of our business. If something isn’t working we take ownership and problem solve how we can be better in the future. Our positive outlook mostly comes down to a great sense of humor. We can really laugh through anything together and always have so much fun! Instagram and TikTok have been the biggest keys to our growth. Showing up on both platforms consistently and authentically are the biggest secrets to our overall success.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
Time has been a game changer for us! We both left the classroom in May of 2022 so this past year is our first year being full time in our business. These past 12 months have been transformative for our business. There is no way we could be where we are today if we were still teachers. We finally had our first off-season where all we had to focus on was our business and getting prepped for the 2023 season! We have stronger systems, better organization practices, and had more time to train in our team before we hit wedding season. While going full time has been amazing for our business it is not a decision we made lightly. We had to ask ourselves if our business needed more time or more money. Once the answer was “time” we made the leap and quit teaching. We had been saving money within our business to be prepared to replace our salaries once it was time to leave. We always want to recognize that leaving your full time job is a big decision and comes at different times for everyone!
