We recently connected with Natalie Barbour and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Natalie , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by two strong and dedicated parents. They profoundly shaped me. My mom started her own business in her early 30’s and had this relentless commitment and resilience to not only working hard, but working smart. She constantly was thinking of ways to better her business, family time and honor her “me-time.” I’m so grateful for her guidance.
My father moved my very pregnant mom out to the sticks to build their dream home. They lived in a fifth wheel for almost a year! He worked tirelessly designing, building and executing what they envisioned for their future. His meticulous attention to detail and unwavering determination set this exemplary standard I couldn’t wait to be a part of.
Their influence instilled in me a deep sense of drive, pride and ownership in my own tasks and dreams. Not only working hard, but balancing effort with efficiency all rooted in integrity. I’m so grateful for my upbringing.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Natalie, and I love what I do!
I get to sketch, build and execute peoples dreams. Whether it’s a brand package, custom product or marketing plan they need guidance with, I have the privilege to partner and encourage them, offering my expertise on how to best execute for their overall success.
Every day is different, as every client is different. Their visions are so unique to THEM and that’s why I love it! No two projects are the same. It gives me a sense of pride to be a part each and every one.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Passion- You have to want it. You have to dream about it. Envision and manifest.
Plan it- Once you nail down what and where you want your future to be, plan it. Write it, journal it, talk about it. Break it down to digestible milestones. Nothing happens overnight.
Being vocal about your journey and having a plan will get you there.
Consistency- Do it even when you are tired, unmotivated and overwhelmed. Time is going to go on regardless, so might as well carve out some time in your day to commit to your dream future.
Overall, nothing happens overnight and some days look different than others and that’s ok!
I knew I wanted a creative career that encouraged a healthy balance with my family. I interned with as many places that would accept me, volunteered at as many fashion weeks as possible and networked, networked, networked. It introduced me to the team I work with today and so grateful. All that hard work- paid off!
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am always looking for aspiring individuals or teams wanting to build their brand into something impactful. That might be a sustainable approach to consumer products, a one-of-a-kind product or branding that aligns perfectly with their vision. I absolutely love collaborating on projects and bringing each others strengths to the overall execution. Feel free to DM on @threadvision instagram or email me directly at [email protected]
