Meet Whitney Freya

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Whitney Freya. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Whitney below.

Hi Whitney, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

In 1996 I opened a drop-in art center in an old bungalow in an up and coming commercial district in Nashville, TN without having even painted on a canvas since I was 9. I had zero art training, but read in a book, Zen and the Art of Making a Living, that “unless you adopt an artist mentality you won’t be able to love the life of your dreams.”

3 years out of college, having sold books door-to-door for 3 summers, there were two things I knew for sure: 1. I wanted a dreamy life and 2. The real world was waaaayyyyy more like a blank canvas than a multiple choice test. I wondered, “Where does one go to develop an artist mentality?”

As soon as I started exploring this idea, I received affirmations, one after another, and I opened the doors 15 months after that initial ah-hah.

Because I have always been tapped into the big picture, that life is meant to be loved as art and our creative reclamation is vital, I have been able to overcome my individual insecurities or self-doubts.

My latest book, 30 Days to Unstoppable, is a guided meditation, or an initiation, into how you and I become unstoppable when we understand we are a part of a greater design.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

In 2007 my then-husband and I bought a ranch in remote, yet magical, NE Oregon and moved there in 2011. Anticipating the move to a small, rural population, I launched my first three online programs in 2009.

All these years later, I still teach predominantly online with supplemental live workshops and retreats. I love connecting with other open-heARTed, passionate spirits, mostly women, who are attracted to living life as art and blending their painting and spiritual practice.

I absolutely LOVE making painting accessible, fun, sacred & magical! Through our Sacred & Personal Painting Practice, life comes alive in so many new ways. Your intuition increases, leading to new confidence as you follow YOUR own inner knowing. You tune in to the symbolic language that is being offered to you each day on more subtle levels than a phone call or email. Animals, colors, ancient symbols, sacred geometry… find you. Then, you paint and a portal is created… you enter into a Creative Frequency that aligns you with the energy of change and transformation, accelerating your personal journey and amplifying the strength and wisdom of your heART.

In 2010, I launched my Creatively Fit Coaching Training, inspired by an email from a woman in Nigeria, and 14 years, and over 600 Certified Creatively Fit Coaches, later I am launching the upleveled Creative Frequency Coaching Training in September 2024.

I adore our community that is united in our passion for color, paint and dancing with the mystery WHILE turning around to share our process with others.

I have zero doubt that what our world needs to come back into balance now is our creativity awakened, the feminine energy that creates new life and will guide us / that is guiding us into a more sustainable, compassionate and loving world. What a joy and a gift to get to “do this work” for my living!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Each of my books has been inspired by a truth that I know has held me steady & strong even when self-doubt creeps in…. First, nurturing your Creative Spirit is non-negotiable if you want to create change in this world, follow the beat of your own drum, or live life YOUR way. My first book, The Artist Within, A Guide to becoming Creatively Fit makes this accessible to anyone.

Second, life is an inside out job and when you “remember” that it’s all about the energy, the feelings or emotions, that you nurture from the inside (requiring no money or qualifications) you align with a level of personal freedom that you will love! My second book, Rise Above, Free Your Mind One Brush Stroke at a Time, was written inspired by these truths that I integrated deeply after choosing to end my marriage and walk away from substantial “financial security.” You are in control and have everything you need in each moment to choose your thoughts, ideas or stories so that they support and inspire what you desire to create into the art that is your life. I’ve “had it all” and walked away and know intimately that a prosperity of Spirit is the most priceless treasure.

My best advice is to start your own painting practice, especially if that scares you. Especially if it does!

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

My community of creatives, of healers, open minded and hearted women that link arms with me to lean into what newness we can create into this beautiful world and life motivates and inspires me every day.

Since I was little, I have wanted to talk about what is possible, not practicalities, what is unseen, rather than what is seen… I love how much we don’t know YET and the underlying design that is the foundation of all physical, material and spiritual realities.

Sharing life, time and creative, fun space with others who love these conversations and creative prompts brings me tremendous joy.
