We were lucky to catch up with Tenya Eickenberg recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Tenya, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I do a lot for self-care, I found self-care about 4 months into my healing journey. The time I really dove into what self-care was was after a coach encouraged me to start with a meditation practice twice a day for 10 minutes each time. It was easier to do that than 20 min at one shot. After starting with meditation I learned several other tools to add to my self-care. Journaling, setting boundaries, moving each day through exercise, learning to feel my emotions again, and not labeling them as good or bad. Reading uplifting and self-help books like The Four Agreements, learning what thoughts were really running through my head, and learning to have gratitude for the smallest things like two-ply toilet paper, eating healthy, staying hydrated, making sure I got adequate sleep as much as possible and learning what forgiveness really was and forging those that I needed to forgive. I wasn’t able to focus on the self-care aspect of my healing however until I released the pent-up energy that was taking up so much space in my thoughts and body. Once I was able to incorporate deliberate daily self-care, the impact on my life was astronomical. I was able to focus on others because I focused on myself first.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As an energy healer and self-care coach, I focus on assisting my clients in releasing energetic blocks that are holding them back from all kinds of things. My main focus is on anxiety and depression, however, I have helped clients through money blocks, infections, and relationships. My journey into this field began with my own healing experience, where I discovered the profound impact of self-care and energy healing on my mental health.
What is exciting to me about the work I do with my clients is seeing them transform and grow from the release of energy and doing deliberate self-care and conscious work. It is so fulfilling to see someone move from a place of emotional or physical pain to one of clarity and joy. I tailor each session for my clients to fit them, it is this personalization that I love so much. I believe that everyone has the power to heal themselves once they have the right tools and support.
Through my large range of services, which include quantum healing sessions, past life regression, shifting limiting beliefs, clearing anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses, I utilize laughter yoga, and breath work as well. I created packages around these services to help clients achieve unshakable inner peace, joyful living, deep sleep, emotional resilience, and more. While I am not a therapist and I do not diagnose my clients, they come to me when everything else has been exhausted.
My company, Design Your Existence, is all about empowering women to take control of their health and happiness. My goal is to create a supportive community through The ME-tamorphosis Project group where members can share their journeys, inspire one another, and access the resources they need for ongoing growth and healing. I offer a space for like-minded individuals to connect, share experiences, and learn from each other.
I’m strongly committed to showing my clients that healing is possible quickly without relying solely on pills or talk therapy. Energy healing and self-care can be powerful adjuncts to Western medicine, offering a holistic approach to well-being. I’m excited to offer my clients many different packages including the Project You Program. The Project You Program includes 12 energy healing sessions with teachings on 12 different acts of self-care. I also have a journal available on Amazon for those who like journal prompts.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey are learning about emotional acceptance, energy healing, and self-care practices. Emotional acceptance is something that has helped me immensely in the last few years. It wasn’t something I felt I learned as a kid.
Emotional acceptance is the practice of accepting your emotions for what they are. Messages that your body is sending you that you need to pay attention to. I learned to not label my unattractive feelings as bad. No, they don’t make me feel pleasant, but they are no longer unpleasant either.
Energy Healing is using the body’s subtle energy bodies and the practitioner’s intuition or utilizing muscle testing to find and clear energetic blocks. These blocks or balls of energy to me look like the bur’s that one might get on their socks when going through a field or the woods. These energy burs are annoying and just rub us the wrong way and if we don’t get them cleared, they can cause life to be very uncomfortable.
Self-care is the act of taking care of yourself, but not just doing it once in a while. Deliberate self-care is not done only on the weekends (like sleeping in) or once a month when you get a massage. Those are great, but they won’t fill your cup, it is not going to help you with self-preservation. Deliberate self-care is done every day and it is at least 3-5 different activities every day. I choose 3-5 activities from The Project You course I teach. Meditation, journaling, emotional acceptance, adequate nutrition, exercise for your mind, understanding that your thoughts create things, gratitude practice, maintaining a consistent sleep schedule, setting boundaries, finding forgiveness for others, and adhering to the four agreements. In the beginning, I have my clients incorporate more as time allows.
I would advise those who are early in their journey to stay consistent and ask for help when they feel stuck. Consistency means to always behave in the same way or have the same attitude toward what you want to achieve. This means setting the intention to practice self-care every day as well as seeing an energy practitioner weekly or biweekly or learning to do the work yourself. If they step back from their path of self-preservation, stop, take a breath, and step forward again. I rely on my own energy practitioner and coaches for sessions when I get stuck, even as an energy healer and coach myself.
When you look at successful people in any industry or place in life, you will find that they aren’t just motivated but they are consistent.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Four Agreements is the one book that has played an important role in my development over the last few years of my own journey. I even have the first agreement tattooed on my arm – Be Impeccable with your word. The Four Agreements outline 4 rules for personal freedom.
Be Impeccable With Your Word – Always say what you mean
Don’t Take Anything Personally – What others say or do is not because of you
Don’t Make Assumptions – Remember Oscar Wilde’s words (they are not in the book) but it helps me to always ask questions – When you assume, you make an ass out of u and me.
Always Do Your Best – Your best will change from day to day, but if your goal is to always do your best then you will always succeed.
When you follow the teachings of these agreements and set them into practice you will find that you can respond more clearly not just with yourself, but with others.
