Meet Teresa Conroy-Roth

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Teresa Conroy-Roth. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with TERESA below.

Hi TERESA, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

Growing up in the 70’s there were so many changes happening and conversations taking place regarding women’s rights. I remember a conversation with my mother when I was about 10 that changed me forever. I walked into the room while she was having a panic attack. What if my father divorced her….how would she support 3 children without a high school degree. We would be homeless or have to move in with another family. She was devastated and said the magic words. “Never allow a man to support you…you are going to have to do it yourself.”

My mothers family were World War II refugees and had lived in (DP) Displaced Persons camps throughout Europe for 11 years…much of her childhood. Many days they had no idea where their next meal was coming from or if they could find small jobs for income, Many stories of the hardship were passed down to me throughout my life.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My super-power is the ability to have an engaging conversation with anyone and make them feel comfortable.
I have often been referred to as a “Super Connector” when it comes to networking. I always try to help first and do business second.
Relationships and how you treat people really matters.
You can do anything if you believe in yourself.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

2 Books…I can’t just pick one.

How To Win Friends and Influence People – Dale Carnegie
I fought reading this book for years, the title seemed phony and manipulating to my core.  Once I forced myself to open the book it changed my life and my interpersonal relationships. Find your people strengths and maximize them.

The Trusted Advisor – David Maister
Another great read that forever changed my business relationships. I started naturally coaching executives as my coaching and advising skills grew.
