Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Omosigho/ Kim with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

Kim Joseph:
My work ethic was born out of a deep sense of responsibility that I learned early on in life. Growing up in a Nigerian household, hard work wasn’t just encouraged—it was expected. My parents instilled in me the value of perseverance, resilience, and dedication. As a nurse, I’ve seen firsthand how hard work and compassion can make a difference in people’s lives. The long hours, the emotional toll, and the commitment to my patients have shaped my approach to everything I do, including TheK.O.Experience. Every detail, every piece of decor we create is infused with the same care and attention I give to my patients. It’s about going the extra mile, knowing that excellence isn’t an option but a necessity. That’s the standard I’ve always held myself to, and it’s the same standard we bring to our work at TheK.O.Experience.

Omosigho Omorotionmwan:
My work ethic is deeply rooted in my upbringing and my journey through the healthcare field. From a young age, I watched my parents work tirelessly to provide for our family, never once compromising on quality or integrity. That mindset stayed with me through my education, earning my master’s in health administration, and now as I pursue nursing. The healthcare field demands a level of discipline, patience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. It’s not just about getting the job done—it’s about doing it right, with precision and care. At TheK.O.Experience, that same work ethic drives everything we do. We approach each project with the mindset that it’s not just decor—it’s an experience, a reflection of who we are and what we stand for. That’s why we pour our hearts into every detail, ensuring that our clients feel the love, dedication, and professionalism that define our work.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Kim Joseph & Omosigho Omorotionmwan: TheK.O.Experience

At TheK.O.Experience, we believe that every event, every space, and every moment deserves to be extraordinary. Our journey began with a shared passion for creativity and a deep love for our Nigerian culture, which inspires every aspect of our work. We saw an opportunity to blend our backgrounds in healthcare with our desire to create something truly special—a decor company that not only designs beautiful spaces but also brings a unique level of care and attention to every detail.

Kim: As a nurse, I’ve always been drawn to the idea of making people feel cared for and valued. When we started TheK.O.Experience, I wanted to bring that same nurturing spirit into our work. For me, it’s about creating environments that not only look stunning but also make people feel at home, celebrated, and cherished. There’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing a client’s vision come to life and knowing that we’ve played a part in making their special moments even more memorable.

Omosigho: With a background in health administration and a strong passion for nursing, I’ve always been focused on precision, efficiency, and delivering quality outcomes. At TheK.O.Experience, I channel those skills into ensuring that every event we design is executed flawlessly. What excites me the most is the fusion of tradition and modernity in our work—drawing from our rich Nigerian heritage while incorporating contemporary elements to create something unique and unforgettable.

What Makes Us Special: What sets TheK.O.Experience apart is our commitment to personalized service. We don’t just decorate spaces; we create experiences that are tailored to our clients’ needs and dreams. Whether it’s a bridal shower, a corporate event, or an intimate gathering, we approach each project with the same level of dedication and passion. Our clients are at the heart of everything we do, and we pride ourselves on delivering not just decor, but memories that last a lifetime.

At the core of TheK.O.Experience is a love for what we do and a desire to bring joy to others through our work. We’re grateful for the opportunity to share our story and our passion with our clients, and we look forward to continuing to create unforgettable experiences that touch hearts and inspire beauty.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three Qualities That Impacted Our Journey:

Resilience:
Kim: Resilience has been a cornerstone in my journey. As a nurse, there are days when the emotional and physical demands can feel overwhelming, but it’s the ability to push through, adapt, and continue providing care that has shaped my approach to everything I do. In building TheK.O.Experience, there were challenges—whether it was balancing a demanding career with entrepreneurship or navigating the unexpected twists that come with any business. But resilience kept us moving forward. My advice to those early in their journey is to cultivate resilience. There will be obstacles, but it’s your ability to recover and keep going that will determine your success.

Attention to Detail:
Omosigho: One of the most impactful skills I’ve honed is attention to detail. In health administration, small oversights can lead to significant issues, and the same applies to event planning and decor. At TheK.O.Experience, every detail matters—from the color palette to the arrangement of decor elements. It’s this meticulousness that ensures we exceed our clients’ expectations every time. For those starting out, I recommend focusing on the little things. Whether you’re crafting a product, providing a service, or managing a team, it’s the details that set you apart. Practice being thorough and precise, and you’ll see the difference it makes.

Collaboration:
Kim & Omosigho: Collaboration has been vital in our journey, both as business partners and in how we work with our clients. Building TheK.O.Experience required us to leverage each other’s strengths—Kim’s nurturing approach and Omosigho’s organizational skills complemented each other perfectly. We also understood the importance of collaborating with our clients, listening to their needs, and co-creating their vision. For those early in their journey, never underestimate the power of teamwork. Surround yourself with people who complement your skills, be open to learning from others, and remember that collaboration often leads to innovation and success.

Advice for Those Early in Their Journey:

Build a Support System: Find mentors, peers, or even a business partner who shares your vision and can offer guidance and support. Having a strong support system can make a huge difference when you face challenges.

Keep Learning: Stay curious and never stop learning. Whether it’s through formal education, online courses, or simply learning from experiences, the more knowledge and skills you acquire, the better equipped you’ll be to navigate your journey.

Stay True to Your Values: Lastly, always stay true to your values and what you stand for. In every decision, from the big ones to the seemingly small ones, let your values guide you. It’s what will make your journey uniquely yours and lead to success that’s meaningful to you.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Kim Joseph:
When I’m overwhelmed, I rely on structure and organization to regain my footing. I create a plan or a list, prioritizing the most critical tasks first. Having a clear plan makes even the most daunting projects feel more achievable. I also find it helpful to step away for a bit—taking a short break to refresh my mind can make all the difference. Another strategy I use is to remind myself of my purpose and why I started this journey. It helps put things into perspective and motivates me to push through the overwhelm. My advice is to stay organized, remember your why, and give yourself grace. It’s important to recognize that everyone feels overwhelmed at times, but how you manage it can make all the difference in your success.

Omosigho Omorotionmwan:
When I feel overwhelmed, I remind myself to take a step back and breathe. I’ve learned the importance of staying calm under pressure, and I apply the same principle to TheK.O.Experience. I break down the tasks that are overwhelming me into smaller, more manageable steps. This helps me regain control and focus on one thing at a time. I also make sure to carve out time for self-care, whether it’s a walk, some quiet time, or simply talking to someone I trust. My advice is to remember that it’s okay to pause and regroup. Prioritize your mental and physical well-being, and don’t be afraid to ask for help when you need it. A clear mind leads to better decisions.
