We were lucky to catch up with Devin Jenkins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Devin, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.
Imposter syndrome is something I still deal with in many areas. The trick for me though is to keep working and moving forward in spite of it. Typically we’re in our own heads because of fear of failure, but I’ve found that more often than not, people are waiting for what I have to offer and their response gives me the reassurance and confidence I need to quiet imposter syndrome’s voice and believe that I belong where I’m at doing what I’m doing.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I am intersecting music and technology to build community around the world through my business Share The Vibes, LLC. Share The Vibes promotes emerging artists and provides valuable educational resources to empower creatives. We offer professional DJ services, podcasting, exclusive merchandise, and our annual hallmark event Share The Vibes Music & Technology Festival. In the 3 years since its inception, Share The Vibes Fest has exposed nearly 400 festival attendees in Milwaukee, WI, to 22 rising music and dance artists, 20+ BIPOC-owned businesses, and hands-on learning experiences focused on AI, podcasting, and Web3.
Share The Vibes is special because we bring people together from different walks of life and foster relationships that yield mutually beneficial outcomes by curating spaces and experiences that are simultaneously fun, educational, safe, and affordable. We have connected first time performers with Recording Academy members, and people who don’t understand computer programming at all with artificial intelligence subject matter experts. Share The Vibes makes these unique learning and entertainment opportunities accessible to communities often excluded from participating in these types of experiences.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Remain humble and teachable.
As long as I’ve been willing to learn, I’ve continually found opportunities to grow and take advantage of experiences that show me new possibilities.
2. Build a strong network and support system.
The best advice I received when running for an elected position in an organization 10 years ago was, “Don’t politic. Build relationships.” Over the years I have prioritized building genuine connections with people, and that has provided me with a diverse network of people who value me as a person and share resources with me to help ensure my success.
3. Stay grounded in your values and belief systems.
I believe God is our creator and causes all things to work together for our good. Even when I don’t have all the answers or know what to expect, my faith enables me to move forward anyhow understanding that whatever happens is ultimately for my greater good. Faith is an antidote for being blocked by fear.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
As a DJ and Vibe Curator, I am looking to collaborate with people and orgs who are passionate about music and supporting emerging artists, upskilling black and brown communities with relevant technology skillsets, and investing in the growth and sustainability of Share The Vibes Fest. My family and I relocated to Charlotte, NC, from Milwaukee, WI, a little less than 2 years ago, so I am looking for strategic partners here in Charlotte to help bring the experiences we’ve been able curate in Milwaukee here as well!
If anyone is interested in collaborating, email us at [email protected], or Follow and DM us on our social media platforms.
