Meet Makenna June

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Makenna June. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Makenna below.

Hi Makenna , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

I heard somewhere the word “weird” has a German origin, “wyrd” which meant originally “having the power to control destiny.”

I always felt outcasted in my life. I was a golf professional before a tattoo artist/model and even before the tattoos I knew I was destined for more. As I started to trust my “wyrd” I felt myself opening up and trusting the process, and trusting myself enough to know that weird is special and there can always be more special in the world.

Lean into the void.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Makenna June, and I’m the curator of IN222THEVOID- a collaborative art & modeling project.

My goal is to bridge the gap between alternative women and high end fashion.

I do all my own tattoos and specialize in working with brands who are ready to step outside the box fashion has become stagnant in.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Learning to find what you want most and going full force into that absolutely changed my life.

I follow a woman on Instagram who broke through to me, @mami.onami. She posted a video where she discussed “who you have to be to get what you wan”t. Most people never embrace the fact they want money, power, or pleasure, and they face guilt that holds them back. What you judge tends to be your desire and if you learn and utilize discipline, you’ll notice the path becomes much more clear. That was my starting point and from there I let the universe guide me.

Everything I do was developed on an internal level and transferred into my life, it starts with you!

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

The Journey Home, A Kryon Parable -Lee Carroll

The book discussed a man who has a near death experience, which I also had happen in 2020. The man goes on a journey through seven houses, meeting angels in each one.

“Your human consciousness only reveals the parts of it you wish to experience. As you change, more of it comes into view.”
