We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jennifer Duncan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jennifer, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
The pandemic presented unique challenges for us as brand-new parents, and to our surprise, we found out we were expecting again just five months postpartum. I had initially planned to return to my corporate job after maternity leave, but life had different plans. With a newborn who slept a lot, I found myself with some free time. During this period, I began researching ways to earn money from home while caring for a newborn. That’s when I discovered UGC and content creation, sparking a new passion! After both of my toddlers were born and we felt comfortable venturing out in public, new challenges arose. With my husband working from home full-time, I had to find creative ways to get out of the house with two toddlers just 13 months apart. This quickly led to a whole new world of anxiety. Which places were age-appropriate for my toddlers? What local spots would accommodate their developmental stages? Searching online for answers didn’t provide much comfort. This inspired me to start visiting and recording these places myself. My goal is to provide valuable information for other parents in the area, helping to ease their concerns and educate them about these great local spots.

I’m Jenn, a content creator who recently formed my LLC, focusing on family-friendly activities and local gems in the North Austin area. CedarParkMomVlog began as a way to document and share the places I visited with my toddlers, especially those that cater to young children’s developmental stages. What started as a personal project quickly grew into a passion for providing valuable resources to other parents.
The most exciting aspect of CedarParkMomVlog is discovering and showcasing local spots that are both fun and educational for families. From hidden playgrounds and splash pads to unique cafes and family events, I aim to highlight the best of what our community has to offer. Each post and reel is crafted to give parents a clear idea of what to expect, making it easier for them to plan outings with their little ones.
My goal is to make CedarParkMomVlog a public resource, offering comprehensive guides, reviews, and tips for family-friendly activities in and around Austin..
Looking ahead, I have several exciting plans for CedarParkMomVlog. This includes hosting community events, expanding my content to include more interactive and engaging formats, and launching a series of detailed guides on the best places for kids in our area. I’m also exploring collaborations with local businesses and organizations to bring exclusive content and offers to my followers. I am also currently working directly with the Cedar Park Travel and Tourism Board on local content exclusively for the City of Cedar Park.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities and skills that were most impactful in my journey have been a thorough understanding of social media, strong networking abilities, and effective pitching techniques.
Understanding Social Media: Mastering SEO, video editing, staying updated on trends, and honing proper filming and photography techniques have all been crucial. These skills allowed me to create engaging content that resonates with my audience and stands out in a crowded digital landscape.
Advice: For those early in their journey, invest time in learning about SEO and the latest social media trends. Take online courses or watch tutorials on video editing and photography. Consistent practice will help you improve your content quality.
Networking: Building strong connections with other content creators, local businesses, and industry professionals has been invaluable. Networking has opened up opportunities for collaborations, partnerships, and gaining new insights.
Advice: Attend industry events, join online communities, and don’t be afraid to reach out to others in your field. Building genuine relationships will provide support and open doors for growth.
Pitching: Being able to effectively pitch my ideas and projects has been essential. Whether it’s proposing collaborations with brands or presenting new content ideas, a compelling pitch can make all the difference.
Advice: Focus on clearly articulating the value you bring to the table. Practice your pitching skills by presenting your ideas to friends or mentors and seek feedback to refine your approach. Confidence and clarity are key.
For anyone early in their journey, developing these skills will provide a strong foundation for success. Keep learning, stay connected, and be persistent in pursuing your goals.
