Meet Leeann Ditomaso Samantha Paros

We recently connected with Leeann Ditomaso Samantha Paros and have shared our conversation below.

Hi LeeAnn & Samantha, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

As Spelling to Communicate (S2C) Practitioners, we’ve overcome many challenges and climbed through many obstacles that have led us to be as confident as we are today. Until you sit down in our chair, you won’t understand what it takes to be an S2C Practitioner. Presuming competence is the key. It is important to believe in nonspeakers and never underestimate their true potential. Keeping calm & regulated throughout each session has allowed us & our Spellers to become more confident in our work.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Access S2C, founded in January 2023, is a Spelling to Communicate (S2C) Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Spelling to Communicate teaches individuals with motor challenges the purposeful motor skills necessary to point to letters as an alternate means of communication. The goal is to achieve synchrony between the brain and body. Our practitioners have been rigorously trained to teach motor skills through a hierarchy of verbal and gestural supports. As the Speller’s skills improve through consistent practice they progress from pointing to letters on a letter board to typing on a keyboard. It is our goal to help each student become independent communicators and create a community of Spellers and families!

Access S2C is beyond thankful to have Marlene Kole (Office Administrator) on our team.

We are excited to add Katie McCandless (S2C Practitioner) & Tina DiTomaso (S2C Practitioner In-Training) to our growing practice/team!

Access S2C is also thrilled to announce that we are now offering Adaptive Personal Training Sessions! Our 25 or 50-minute sessions involve working through a series of exercises to create, build, & strengthen the connection between the brain and the body. The purposeful movements will allow the Speller to build confidence and body awareness, as well as promote the brain’s ability to change. All sessions will be facilitated by Jessica Elsing, our Certified Adaptive Personal Trainer.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The qualities that impacted our journey the most were patience, trust, and hope. We believe our success was because we took everything super slow and made sure everything was right at all times. We trusted the process & hoped for success, it worked!

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Our clientele has significantly grown over the past 12 months. Through word of mouth and social media, many lives are being touched and changed by access to S2C services. We intend for Access S2C to continue to grow at a steady pace. Thankfully, our team of practitioners is growing as well!
