Meet Danielle Sticha

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Danielle Sticha. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Danielle below.

Danielle, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

In the world of real estate, where networking, presentation, and influence often dictate success, standing out can be both a challenge and an opportunity. For an African American woman who has carved a niche in this competitive industry, the journey involves not just navigating market trends but also overcoming the significant barriers of representation and bias.

When I first started in real estate, It was clear that I was one of few African American Realtors in my area. I decided that I WAS different than most of my counterparts, therefore I had to BE different in my approach to marketing myself. I have been able to brand myself as a knowledgeable, relatable source of information for so many people. By showcasing a diverse range of stories and experiences, I hope I can inspire and mentor aspiring professionals who may face similar challenges. The experience of being the only one in the room who looks like you is profound, but it can also be a powerful motivator for success.

One of the most impactful aspects of being a trailblazer in real estate is the ability to pave the way for future generations. By succeeding and making a mark in the industry, an African American woman not only enhances her own career but also contributes to greater representation and inclusivity. That’s the goal!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Hi, I’m Danielle Sticha, a dedicated realtor serving Hampton Roads, VA, and North Carolina. Born and raised in the area, I embarked on my real estate career driven by a desire to make the home buying process more enriching and educational. After my own first home purchase, where I felt like I didn’t truly learn or engage with the process, I was motivated to help others have a better experience.

With a focus on both educating my clients and securing the perfect deals, I find immense satisfaction in guiding first-time homebuyers through their journey. My passion for real estate lies in making a significant difference for my clients, ensuring they not only find their dream homes but also gain valuable knowledge along the way.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Reflecting on my journey, I believe three qualities have been particularly impactful: my tenacity in the face of adversity, my gift of gab, and my ability to read the room. For anyone starting out in real estate, my advice is to come prepared with a solid plan. Consider how you’ll manage your expenses while building your business and outline your marketing strategy. It’s also crucial to remain persistent and avoid comparing your achievements to others—there will always be someone who outperforms you. Instead, focus on celebrating small victories each day, as they pave the way to greater success.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is someone who comes willing to learn and keep an open mind during the process. It sounds simple but it isn’t lol.
