Meet Tamika Caldwell

We recently connected with Tamika Caldwell and have shared our conversation below.

Tamika , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Strangely enough, my strong work ethic came from all of my failures, and they were many.

I guess we should start from the beginning..haha
My father was a very successful business owner and ex Pro football player (he played for the Denver Broncos).
My mother worked for the DOD (department of defense), so she was a civilian who worked for the Army.

This gave us the opportunity to travel the world, experience all kinds of cultures and a world of people.
Looking back as an adult it was very eye opening and transformed me into the person I am today.

All of that being said my household was far from peaceful.
There was constant arguing, addiction and abuse. It was a very, on edge environment.
And there was always a calm before the storm that made you feel like life was good.

In between those calm moments my father taught me to be ambitious.
In his own way he never let me give up on anything, ever.
When it came to sports we always had one rule. “play one every season.”
It helped me to stay consistent in everything I did. There was no quitting, ever and it became a key trait to who I am today.

My work ethic comes from my desire to never give up. It comes from knowing that every day is a gift and a chance to better myself.

It also comes from my motherly instinct, the need to care for those around me.
I know I can’t take care of myself or the people around me by sitting around and doing nothing…

My work ethic comes from knowing that hard work and dedication is the only way to achieve outstanding results.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I am a Realtor in Colorado and soon opening my brand in Hawaii. I mostly work with Military members and first time home owners. The most exciting thing about my business has been my ability to educate the general public about Real Estate. There is so much to learn and so much that is not taught to our community. I love being able to educate my clients so that they can make the best decisions for themselves and their families.
My company name is Mountain and Sea Real Estate Group. We are brokered by Real.
We are growing our team to assist both Colorado and Hawaii in buying and selling Real Estate.
We are experts in the VA home loan and all of its benefits.

Our mission is to help people get into homes within their budget and protect their assets. When it comes to our sellers we aim to provide a seamless and stress free home selling experience.

We pride ourselves in our excellent communication skills and our networking skills which allows us to work well with other agents. We are excited to expand to Hawaii and hope that our skill-set and knowledge of the Real Estate world can assist local Hawaiians in reclaiming land.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

-Patience
-Communication
-Consistency

You have to show up every day, even if its only for a few hours. Even if you decide to show up for your mental health that day or your business or your family… you have to show up every, single day. Consistency is everything. If you are not consistent, you wont make it.

Patience is so important to have in any business. Especially when you are dealing with high stress situations, always have patience. Know that you don’t have to respond to something right away. If you are facing a problem I encourage you to take a step back and think before giving a response. You will find that your response is much better than if you had responded in that moment when emotions felt high. In business you must always be the clearest thinker in the room, do not lead on emotion. Take a step back and have patience.

Communication is so important. You may find that part of the problem is lack of communication. Sometimes you may feel that you want to avoid a conversation because you are afraid of the outcome, but its always better to have the conversation. Do not avoid it. Talk it out and always choose your words wisely. This goes into patience. If you are having a hard conversation its okay to pause and think before you respond. You can even say, “one second, I want to give you my best answer, let me think on that”. You will find that you gain more respect and will be seen as an authority by simply improving your communication skills with others.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I am currently seeking to collaborate with other Realtors, moms and business owners. I have a podcast that has launched this year called “Mom’s Corner Office” and I am hoping to connect with other like-minded women who can share their experiences on my podcast. I am also seeking sponsors for this growing podcast.

Our company is expanding and growing. We are looking for agents who might be interested in joining our team. In either Colorado or Hawaii. We have a growing brand and a large community of customers who trust us and would like to hire other agents with similar morals and values.
