Meet Rick Rodriguez

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Rick Rodriguez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Rick below.

Hi Rick, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I’ve developed my confidence and self esteem through reflection, learning, applying those lessons, and believing in my ability to achieve or learn to achieve.
Confidence and self-esteem can be both a compass and an adversary – especially in entrepreneurial pursuits. I find that aggressive competition can be inspirational and I refuse to let fear of failure guide me. It is with these two fundamental beliefs that I go forward in all my endeavors.
I learned this through competitive swimming. I found that by focusing on beating my own times instead of my competition, I would improve. I valued my limits and trusted the improvement process, and that elevated me. A bold journey is not about measuring up to others it’s about trusting one’s own unique path to development and success.
My father has been a source of strength for me. He’s moved through life with unshakeable confidence. My father says “success is failure turned inside out” and I know that failure can be transmuted into resilience. Now I can say that my self esteem and confidence comes from an alignment of a purpose, practicable values, and a healthy amount of audacity.
Confidence and self esteem is infinitely born, tested, crafted, and reinforced. In my entrepreneurial pursuits, I’ve found that everyone has the opportunity to continuously birth and strengthen their self-esteem and confidence and I look forward to continuing that reinforcement.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I have two businesses currently. My first is called Professional Cleaning Solutions, based in Santa Clarita, CA – a commercial cleaning company that serves local businesses. I’m a second generation business owner in commercial cleaning; my father had his own business spanning from the 80’s into about 2009 when he sold his business. It was awesome to be a part of the family business. It led to me learning both the work and also administrative side of the operation and I learned how to service multiple types of facilities. Feel free to check out my website at scvpcs.com. I truly enjoy this line of work because I work locally. When I say that I mean that I get to be a part of my community, hire local people, and play my role in supporting our own local economic ecosystem while doing something I’m familiar with and good at. I enjoy clean spaces, and I have a personal dislike for disorder, so this venture aligns with me being able to set things clean for productive work spaces.

My second business is a staffing/recruiting service called Hirely, LLC. I am a cofounder of this business, and we service all of California, although Southern California is where most of our activity is. I have 7 years of experience in construction and 5 years in food and beverage. We service construction/tech/food and beverage/healthcare. Since my father was a small business owner and my father in law is a small business owner who got my into the construction sector, I saw firsthand the challenges of having qualified and competent staff to meet the needs of maintenance and growth. I’m truly honored to serve small and midsized businesses, as that is how I grew up. I like what I do, and I’m good at what I do, and to be able to bring that to my professional life is truly fulfilling in many ways. You can find Hirely, LLC. at HirelyLLC.com.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The most important qualities I’ve found have impacted my business are resourcefulness/confidence, problem solving/communication, and the desire to learn and implement.

1. Resourcefulness/Confidence – Being resourceful and having the confidence to take decisive action has allowed me to maximize the potential use of my resources convert challenges into competitive advantages and explore creative solutions. Businesses run into challenges and need to have the leadership and resourcefulness to address those challenges. I take personal inventory and I play to my strengths; I also take notice of my shortcomings and outsource ways of dealing with those. Confidence is a fuel for resilience, decisiveness, and allows me to deal with situations that don’t go to plan while resourcefulness is the other side of that coin for me.

2. Problem solving/Communication – There will be problems internally, externally, and every way imaginable – especially during launch and growth. Being proactive avoids a lot of problems. A large part of problem solving lies in communication. Tough times and tough talks provide valuable experience. Communicating tactfully, straightforward, and immediately transforms self image, the way clients see you, and the way your team sees you. If communication is constructive, all the more better.

3. Desire to Learn and Implement:
What helps me is knowing the past and present of my business market and keeping an ear out for the direction it’s going. I’ve learned budgets and cash flow, team management, negotiations, contracts, and so much more. To be competent is to be competitive and to be competitive is to implement what works and discard what doesn’t work.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I enjoy building my personal and professional network. I believe that helping one another when and where reasonable is sound business practice. I enjoy collaborating with people who want to teach and want to learn; especially people who are genuinely passionate about what they do. It doesn’t even necessarily need to be in my industry. Anyone is welcome to connect with me and message me on LinkedIn at linkedin.com/in/rick-rodriguez-173842b8 .
If you’re in the Santa Clarita Valley, feel free to look me up at scvpcs.com for commercial cleaning – I enjoy providing the service for my community. If you don’t but you’re interested in starting your own cleaning service, feel free to reach me at my website or my LinkedIn.
If you have staffing needs for your business, I know how the growing pains feel, and the need for qualified staff – I’m happy and able to help. Find me at hirelyllc.com. I can help you throughout California.
I truly hope to be able to provide constructive and valuable service, professional and/or personal, to you and I am always happy to receive constructive feedback. Thank you so much.
