Meet Darrian

We were lucky to catch up with Darrian recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Darrian, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I think one of the keyways that I built my confidence To strengthen my mind against outside opinions and against fear of outside judgment. I first did and our first really built confidence was first liking and loving, not only myself, but what I do once I came to terms with making myself the type of person that I like, and making my opinion, and my feelings be top priority as far as my art and also just what I like. I think that that was the first step and how I built confidence in my creation below also confidence of myself. Once I like something that’s pretty much almost all that matters. Because I create things for other people, I also bring , my audience into consideration, but I try to make sure I like something first because once I like it and once I am confident and what I like and standby that then now I can promote it and stand behind it better than if I was just making something Solely With somebody else in mind.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a formally incarcerated content creator and comedian and I am also formally a visual artist. I give my thoughts and make comedic videos and also do public speaking and what I talk about mostly in my comedy and my content creation is sports anime/manga and music. I feel is most exciting about what I do is that I give a fresh way of looking at a lot of the things that I talk about because I feel like my background and being in art and also and being formerly incarcerated I bring a new way of thinking as unique to a lot of the topics that I talk about.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

I would advise for everybody to just create, and the people who already create I would advise mistake, consistent and to worry more about just creating less about what they’re creating or how people feel about what they’re creating. Once you begin creating especially social media people who are watching you and supporting you Are going to give you feedback and a lot of times it won’t be the people you expect. It’ll be somebody who just wants to give their opinion and they’ll eventually let you know which direction you should go. People pay attention and you’ll get to a point where people will see you and they’ll see your strengths and then they will , tell you subliminally where they sell you or you’ll just hear people saying that you’re good at it or they will tell you just outright hey you should be doing this I think you would be good at doing this. I think pay attention and really becoming in touch with yourself and knowing your strength and weaknesses is the key to Success.

I think the three most important qualities to to develop is confidence in yourself discipline and a hard determination and also keeping an eye out for finding what it is. It should truly meant to do and whoop what it is that you love to do.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

I feel like it’s not only one person that has In me achieving my success my family has been a very big part of that in many different ways that they’ve helped and also my close friends. You are the company you keep so hanging around people who are of the mind that you’re trying to be is very important.
