Meet Carmen Spotts

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Carmen Spotts a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Carmen, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

As a holistic realtor and health mentor, I’ve often found myself as the only person in the room with my specific background and approach. While this can feel challenging, I’ve learned to view it as one of my greatest strengths. My unique perspective allows me to bring something entirely different to the table—an understanding of how deeply interconnected our environment is with our physical, mental, and emotional health.

In situations where I’m the only one who looks like me, I focus on authenticity and staying true to my holistic principles. I’ve learned to trust that my knowledge and expertise offer value that others might not have considered. By confidently sharing how a holistic approach to all aspects of life can transform lives, I’ve been able to create opportunities and build trust with clients and colleagues alike.

Being the only one with this unique persepctive in many professional settings has taught me the importance of empathy and listening. I make a conscious effort to understand others’ perspectives while also educating them on the benefits of looking at all facets of life through a holistic lens. This approach has helped me build strong relationships and foster a sense of community, even when my methods and background are unique in the room.

I’ve learned that being different gives me the chance to lead by example and carve out a niche that is increasingly in demand. More and more people are seeking to support their health from as many angles as possible, including where and how they choose to live, and by staying true to my vision, I’ve been able to position myself as a leader in this emerging field. My success comes not from blending in but from standing out and showing that a different approach can lead to remarkable results.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My journey is rooted in a deep passion for holistic health and well-being, and it has naturally evolved into two professional paths that complement each other beautifully. I am both a holistic realtor and a holistic health mentor, and in both roles, I am driven by the belief that true wellness is an intricate balance of the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and even financial aspects of life.

As a holistic realtor, I focus on helping my clients find not just a house, but a sanctuary—an environment that supports and enhances their overall health. Whether it’s a family looking for a pesticide-free homestead, a couple needing an EMF-free environment, or an individual recovering from mold toxicity, I work closely with my clients to ensure their new home aligns with their unique health needs and lifestyle goals. What excites me most about this work is the ability to connect deeply with my clients and offer them a tailored experience that goes far beyond the typical real estate transaction. I guide them through the process with empathy, knowledge, and a network of trusted professionals who share our commitment to holistic living.

One of the most special aspects of my real estate practice is that I am one of the few holistic realtors in the country, and the only one in Eastern Washington. This allows me to provide a niche service that is increasingly in demand as more people recognize the importance of living in environments that promote well-being. I’m currently expanding my connections with local holistic providers and businesses, which enables me to offer even more comprehensive support to my clients.

In addition to real estate, I also work as a holistic health mentor, where I guide individuals on their wellness journeys. As a Master Herbalist and Precision Holistic Wellness Mentor, I help my clients navigate their health challenges and discover the lifestyle changes, natural remedies, and practices that can bring them into greater balance and vitality. My approach is deeply personalized, recognizing that each person’s path to wellness is unique.

I started down the holistic path because from my childhood I watched my mom go from a vibrant, healthy, young woman to someone whose health was failing because of her lack of understanding of the interconnected nature all things were having on her health. She was given medication after medication to treat symptoms and side effects. It wasn’t until I started down this path and guiding her down it with me that her health began to make a turnaround. Now I have the awesome privilege of helping others realize the power they have to change the trajectory of their health!

What I find most exciting about this work is seeing the transformations that occur when people are empowered to take control of their health. Whether it’s helping someone overcome chronic health issues, achieve a healthier lifestyle, or simply find more peace and balance in their day-to-day life, the impact is profound and lasting.

Looking ahead, I’m thrilled to be expanding my holistic real estate services by forging stronger partnerships with local businesses that align with holistic values. This includes collaborations with eco-friendly contractors, organic farmers, and alternative health practitioners, all of which will allow me to offer even more robust support to my clients.

On the holistic health side, I’m excited about the recent launch of my children’s book, Gracie’s Healing Garden, which introduces young readers to the concept of using herbs for food and medicine. Building on this, I am also working on a series of children’s books that will delve deeper into holistic health and healing. With over half of the children in America facing at least one chronic illness, I have a deep passion for reaching the next generation and teaching them that a holistic approach to health can create true wellness. Additionally, I am developing a new series of ebooks and online courses aimed at empowering people to create healthier, more balanced lives. These will cover topics ranging from gardening and herbal medicine to stress management and spiritual health, providing practical tools and guidance for those looking to make positive changes in their health.

At the heart of everything I do is a commitment to helping others thrive in all areas of their lives. Whether through finding the perfect home or supporting someone’s health journey, I am dedicated to making a positive impact and building a community where holistic well-being is at the forefront.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, three qualities and skills have been most impactful in my journey: empathy, authenticity, and a deep commitment to lifelong learning. Empathy has been at the heart of my work, allowing me to truly understand and connect with my clients on a deeper level. Whether they’re searching for a home that supports their health or navigating a wellness journey, my ability to listen actively and understand their unique needs has enabled me to offer personalized solutions that resonate with each individual.

Authenticity has also played a crucial role in my success. Staying true to my values and holistic approach, even when it sets me apart from others in the field, has helped me build trust and meaningful connections with my clients. By being genuine and transparent in everything I do, I’ve been able to create a practice that not only aligns with my principles but also serves the real needs of the people I work with.

Lastly, a deep commitment to lifelong learning has been foundational. Continuously expanding my knowledge—whether it’s staying updated on the latest developments in holistic health or understanding new trends in the real estate market—has empowered me to provide the best possible guidance to my clients. This commitment to learning has fueled my confidence and capability in my field.

For those starting out on their journey, I would advise focusing on developing these qualities—empathy, authenticity, and a passion for learning. Approach your work with a genuine desire to help others, being true to who you are with transparency, and never stop seeking new knowledge. These principles will not only set you apart but will also guide you through the inevitable challenges you’ll encounter, leading you to success.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client is someone who values a holistic approach to life and recognizes the deep connection between their environment and their overall well-being. They are open-minded and proactive about their health, seeking not just a home or wellness guidance, but a partnership in their journey toward a healthier, more balanced life.

In real estate, my ideal client is someone who understands that their home is more than just a physical space—it’s a sanctuary that should support their physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual health. They may have specific needs, such as sensitivities to EMFs, allergies, or a desire to live in a toxin-free environment, and they appreciate the importance of finding a home that aligns with these values. They are also looking for a stress-free, supportive experience, and they value clear communication and a relationship built on trust.

As a holistic health mentor, my ideal client is someone who is committed to their wellness journey and is eager to explore natural and integrative approaches to health. They are curious, willing to learn, and open to making meaningful changes in their lifestyle. Whether they’re dealing with chronic health issues or simply seeking a more balanced life, they are motivated to take charge of their health and value the personalized, compassionate support I provide.

Overall, my ideal client is someone who is looking for a holistic, integrative approach—whether in finding the perfect home or in enhancing their health—and who values a collaborative, trusting relationship as they pursue their goals.
