Meet Teddy Scribblez

We were lucky to catch up with Teddy Scribblez recently and have shared our conversation below.

Teddy , appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?

The creativity is something that’s already in me. It’s a little faded but it’s still there. I can say that creativity always thrives once you learn to let loose and not worry about expectations from the world. At the end of the day, you’re expressing yourself in the best way you see fit.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am Teddy Scribblez. I am an illustrator and also an animator. I create logos, I create original characters and stories for these characters. Currently, i am focused on freelance work as well as writing my own comic book.
My brand is all about tapping in your inner child and maximizing ideas.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Networking –
Learning about who’s who that does the same thing I do. Connecting with people in real life and online helped me on my journey. I would get plenty of tips, feedback on my work and even commissions. Word of mouth definitely helps. I suggest drawing in public spaces like restaurants and malls. That usually draws in people.

Time-
If you have the time, strictly focus on just your art. I’d worry about the networking/marketing aspects later. It’s good to have a body of work to showcase what you do. So when people are curious about your art, you have something to present. if you don’t have the time, start small. It’s better to have a doodle you did in 5 minutes rather then nothing at all.

Organization-
Having everything where you can easily access them has been a life saver. I know that artists like to keep their spaces messy but as I’ve grown in my career/life I prefer things being properly labeled and organized

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes! I’ve always wanted to collaborate with other cool artists. I love to see what the future brings. I’m pretty open to ideas and I like to work with people who are open to ideas I have. Any artists who specialize in video games, card game illustration, and/or toy designs.
