Meet Chayanika Baishya

 

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Chayanika Baishya a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Chayanika, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

Acts of kindness have the potential to make the world a happier place for everyone. I am grateful to my parents for raising me with such kindness and generosity, as it has helped me to nurture and cherish meaningful relationships and connections.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Chayanika Baishya, an actress, singer, and songwriter with a deep passion for the arts that has been with me since childhood. Growing up in a culturally passionate family in Assam, India, I was surrounded by music, dance, and acting—these creative pursuits always brought me immense joy. I’m grateful for the unwavering support of my family, who have always encouraged me to follow my passion. I began my professional journey in music, releasing my debut single, Scars. This marked a significant milestone in my career and led to an opportunity to perform the title track for a major feature film in Northeast India. From there, I continued releasing my singles and working on various feature film projects. However, I had another dream I wanted to pursue—acting. I knew I needed to follow both of my passions, so I decided to move to Los Angeles and embark on a new chapter in my career. I graduated from the New York Film Academy, where I refined my skills as an actress, and since then, I’ve had the privilege of acting in various films while continuing to release new music. I am thrilled about my latest single song ‘Sassy’ and many more exciting projects.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three defining qualities that have shaped my journey are passion, dedication, and hard work. I have always been passionate about every project I have the opportunity to work on, whether big or small. My passion acts as the driving force behind my relentless pursuit of the art. I am also very dedicated to my work, which often propels me to create something different. Although I tend to get impatient sometimes, I’ve learned the importance of patience, grounding myself in reality, and channeling my aspirations into achievable milestones. I have always been hardworking and curious about the creative process.

My message for those embarking on this exhilarating journey is simple: believe in your vision. Chase those dreams relentlessly and watch as they manifest into reality through your dedication and hard work. Every step you take, every obstacle you overcome, brings you closer to your goals. Stay focused, stay passionate, keep learning and pushing forward. Trust in yourself, trust in your journey.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

I have always lived a fast-paced lifestyle, which often made me impatient. However, over the past year, I have experienced significant personal and professional growth. I have transformed my approach to projects, becoming more patient and selective about the projects I take on, prioritizing quality over quantity. I have also learned to set achievable goals and stay true to my vision. As a result, I have found more fulfillment and success in my creative pursuits. Most importantly, I have begun a journey of self-discovery and self-love, letting go of the need to please others and embracing my authentic self. This process has empowered me and brought me inner peace, allowing me to thrive both personally and professionally.
