Meet Omega Smalls

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Omega Smalls. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Omega, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

Contrary to the “status quo”, being the only one in the room who looks or thinks like you can be a tremendous advantage. Being black, but also being as intricate as a thinker that I am has taught me to embrace my uniqueness as a strength in predicaments that may lack diversity in conscious thinking, and opportunity for those who may not come from the same culture as another person. To add, education and developing my tangible skillsets have been a key factor in leveraging my visibility and credibility. Knowledge is power.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

As an investor, I strategically allocate resources to opportunities that align with my values and have the potential for long-term growth as it relates to marketing & company visibility. As a philosopher & philanthropist, I seek to introduce (prominently) the connection there is between spirituality & financial sustainability. Through this objective, It is my intention to spark a change consciously, but also as it relates to tangible assets that people within undeserving communities have.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Everyone’s life is so unique, & the paths to life can be an “ever-winding” (I love making up words) journey. Although, for me it came from developing & recognizing my strengths early on. Although, through that personal discovery & being multifaceted . . . to focus on no more than a few (or a couple) things. I wouldn’t name three, but this an all encompassing answer.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Yes, I’m looking to introduce an innovative yet niche idea as it relates to photography & the tech space. I’m looking to gain more knowledge from those within the tech/app development space. I’m also seeking to work with & gain knowledge from other venture capitalists.
