Meet Janis Wille

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Janis Wille. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Janis, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?

Where our attention goes, energy flows! Many of us have heard this saying, especially if you have done any type of self help exploration. Recently I was offered the diagnosis of Hypothyroidism Auto Immune Disorder. As a mom of a beautiful 6 month old daughter, a wife, and a business owner, I choose not to accept this diagnosis as my reality. Instead, I choose to focus daily on what I am grateful for and prioritizing self care. I believe this optimism comes from experiencing a lot of loss as a child and realizing that I had two choices on how to live. 1) Live in a suffering state or 2) Live in a growth state. It takes practice to repeatedly choose growth!

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My main career is as an Expressive Arts Therapist in private practice in Louisville, CO. I specialize in empowering my clients with mental health challenges through the power of expressive arts and sound healing. For fun, my husband Cody and I founded another business we call Boho Disco where we offer bohemian style picnics and disco dance parties. This idea stemmed from our wedding and reception where we combined our passions and skills and put on an epic celebration. We created and facilitated a 60 person Bohemian style picnic for the rehearsal dinner. We also created a LED light up dance floor that syncs with music for our reception. We love helping others create unique events such as picnic proposals or disco book launches. The goal is to start taking the profits earned and put them into an investment account for our daughter’s future education and/or enjoyment activities.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Love of music, engineering and creativity!

My husband and co-founder Cody, has been making music for 24 years and has performed all over the united states, including at Red Rocks in 2013. Cody’s favorite music to make is a mix of Electronic + Funk. His more recent passion in engineering has lead him to creative projects such as building smart toys, robots, escape rooms and live interactive scenes for Disney. Cody combined his passions of music and engineering and created our LED Light up Disco Dance Floor. Our dance floor is unique because the lights can be personalized and they sync with music!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

So far we are in collaboration with Organic Sandwich Company, Vetka Flowers in Superior, Snarky Sweet Cake Chick, DJ Goodie, musician Ashlei Priest, singer songwriter Samantha Emmitt, and photographer Brooke Silverman. We would love to collaborate with venues (wedding, nature, night clubs, etc). Essentially if you can imagine a bohemian style picnic or an intimate disco dance party at your venue, we may be a great match!
