We were lucky to catch up with Stephanie Thoma recently and have shared our conversation below.
Stephanie, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Living a life of trial and error, intermixed with successes comes from being curious, idealistic, and stubborn when I find it suitable. Being dedicated to understanding and loving myself has given me the optimism and courage to carry on and overcome when times have gotten hard.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My mission is to dispel the illusion of separation. We have a lot more in common than we think. This, paired with healthy boundaries, clear standards and understanding how you want to show up is how I best serve my coaching clients in their personal and professional development.
As a community builder, I wrote Confident Introvert, about the art of networking as a sensitive or reserved person. Not That Sweet is a memoir that showcases a personal story, intended to help you feel more connected to owning who you really, and releasing the past with love. It comes out this November 2024 on Amazon and where books are sold.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Curiosity instead of judgement allows for greater resilience and depersonalization of other people’s actions.
Expressing your feelings thoughtfully instead of passive aggressiveness or holding it in allows for a healthier more trusting relationship with yourself and others.
Asking people if they want to hear your opinion or advice allows you to share it with those who have opted in, who are able to value your perspective.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed I understand there’s a deeper experience to be had and I’ll take a pause, sit down, close my eyes and invite the emotion or allow it to process, deeply breathing and giving it my full attention for a few minutes.
