We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sam & Elliot Archuleta. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sam & Elliot below.
Hi Sam & Elliot, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Married in 2018, we’ve always searched for a way to weave our passions and careers together. Fast forward to March 2023 when we moved to Denver, CO and away from the place we grew up. In a city with no one but each other, we made it our mission to meet people and make new friends. We believe that deep and meaningful relationships are the key to a fulfilling life. We understood that without intentionally cultivating a community in this new environment, we wouldn’t be satisfied.
We soon discovered that there is a shared sense that humanity’s social skills have atrophied post-pandemic. While there’s a desire to get out, meet new people, make new friends, and play a part in society, it simultaneously feels like that barrier to entry is higher than ever before. It was through the desire to lower that barrier for connection that we sat down at a coffee shop and developed Something More Human.
Something More Human was born out of the innate desire we all have to feel seen and a part of something larger than ourselves. Just six weeks after launching the podcast, we were featured on the front page of Apple Podcasts in the New Beginnings collection. The very next month we were featured in Apple Podcasts New & Noteworthy. We quickly realized that our message resonated in a meaningful way.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Something More Human is pioneering a movement to inspire a return to true connection. What is more exciting and fulfilling than feeling seen by your community? We host intimate podcast dialogues where we skip the surface level conversations and dive deep into tangible tips, strategies, and personal stories on cultivating deep and meaningful relationships. As an extension of these conversations, we also curate physical spaces through our event series, RETURN to REAL LIFE. This event series is a phone-free experience dedicated to creating opportunities for intentional conversation and authentic connection.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Communication, vulnerability, and messy action.
As humans, we fail. It turns out, we fail often. Learning that failure is a crucial part of any success journey and is not a direct reflection of your self worth allows you to adjust and move forward. Oftentimes we must act first and learn valuable lessons through failure as opposed to striving for perfection in a silo. Taking bold, messy action is a valuable perspective to adopt.
Leading with an openness to communicate and a willingness to do so vulnerably allows others to relate to you and forge truly meaningful connections. Remember that we’re all imperfect and we all have a desire to be truly seen.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
We are thrilled to bring guests of all walks of life onto the show for candid conversations about the human experience. We recently hosted Dan Harris, #1 New York Times best selling author of Ten Percent Happier, and Ben Higgins, star of season 20 of The Bachelor. We believe that guests with great influence hold power to shift the way our community listens and responds to their story, taking inspiration to implement into their own lives. We’d love to host more entrepreneurs, TV personalities, authors, athletes, and people who have simply lived a lot of life, experienced a lot of failure, and learned about their personal journey to creating, cultivating, and maintaining a meaningful community.
We are also seeking to partner with mission-aligned brands for both our globally ranked podcast and our phone-free in person events; brands that are all about bringing humanity together for good–getting below the surface level conversation and getting to the heart of the human condition.
