We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kt Rogers a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi KT , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
Growing up in an unconventional and unstable environment shaped me in ways I couldn’t fully grasp at the time. It was a world where uncertainty was the norm, and the ground beneath me seemed to shift constantly. Amidst the chaos, I discovered something that would become my anchor: love. It wasn’t always in the traditional forms—sometimes it was the kindness of a stranger, the warmth of a friend, or the quiet support of someone who saw potential in me when I couldn’t see it myself.
In that unpredictable environment, I learned to find love in the small, often overlooked moments. I clung to the belief that there was always good to be found, even when life felt overwhelming. This belief, this quiet, determined optimism, became my lifeline. It was the lens through which I chose to view the world—a lens that showed me possibilities instead of dead ends.
Remaining optimistic wasn’t just a mindset; it was a survival tool. It kept me moving forward when it would have been easier to give up. Optimism allowed me to see beyond the immediate struggles and believe in a future where I could not only survive but thrive. It was this inner resilience, fueled by hope, that helped me transition from merely getting by to truly living.
This shift from survival to thriving wasn’t instantaneous. It was a gradual process, one that involved embracing the love around me and allowing it to nurture my growth. I began to understand that while I couldn’t control the external circumstances, I could choose how I responded to them. I chose to focus on what was good, what was possible, and what could be created from even the most challenging situations.
As I grew older, this optimism became more than just a way to get through the day; it became a defining part of who I am. It’s what drives me to seek out the silver linings, to believe in the power of small steps, and to continue pursuing my dreams, no matter the obstacles. It’s what helps me connect with others, to see their potential, and to support them in finding their own paths to thriving.
Looking back, I see that my optimism wasn’t just about seeing the glass as half full—it was about recognizing that I had the power to fill it. That belief, born out of a need to survive, has become one of my greatest strengths, guiding me toward a life filled with love, growth, and endless possibilities.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Whether in my corporate role or in my personal coaching practice, my focus is always on helping others unlock their potential. I believe that everyone has the ability to thrive, and my mission is to support that process with compassion, insight, and a deep respect for each person’s unique path.
What sets my approach apart is its intuitive and personalized nature. I never use a one-size-fits-all method; instead, I meet each client exactly where they are in their journey. Whether they’re just beginning to explore self-awareness or are well on their way to achieving their goals, I tailor my guidance to support their unique needs and aspirations. This individualized approach not only raises consciousness but also empowers clients to uncover deeper insights about themselves.
What excites me most about this work is the profound transformation I witness in my clients. I believe that every person deserves to achieve their deepest desires, and I see our desires as our highest calling. My role is to help uncover these desires and support the journey toward realizing them. I use a trauma-informed approach, drawing on my background and passion for psychology to support my clients holistically.
In addition to one-on-one and group coaching, I host a podcast called Raising Consciousness, where I delve into topics related to self-development and personal growth. Through the podcast, I aim to inspire and motivate listeners to pursue their own paths with confidence and clarity.
As I say at the end of every podcast episode, “I am rooting for you.” This phrase encapsulates my commitment to supporting my clients and listeners every step of the way, ensuring they feel seen, heard, and empowered on their journeys.
Every step of this work is an honor, and I take pride in knowing that I’m helping people align with their true selves.
As I continue to expand my work, I’m excited about the future. There are new projects on the horizon, including upcoming podcast episodes and the development of programs that will offer even more support to those looking to reconnect with themselves and live their most authentic lives. My story is still unfolding, but at its core, it’s about resilience, connection, and the belief that we all have the power to transform our lives, no matter where we start.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey—empathy, love, and confidence—are deeply intertwined with both my personal life and professional work. They aren’t just traits I aspire to; they are the foundation of how I live and work in alignment with my true self.
Empathy is more than just understanding others’ feelings; it’s about truly being with someone in their experience, without trying to fix or change it. Whether it was a child having a meltdown in my classroom or a client struggling with a limiting belief, empathy allows me to meet them where they are, honoring their unique experience. This quality is crucial in my coaching practice, where I create a space for clients to explore their challenges and growth without judgment. Personally, empathy has taught me the value of connection—of being present with others in a way that makes them feel seen and understood.
Love is my superpower, and it’s something I carry with me everywhere. As a highly sensitive person, I feel deeply connected to the world around me. I believe that the lens of love is the only thing that can truly change the world. In my personal life, this love manifests in how I care for those close to me, how I approach challenges, and how I see the beauty in everyday moments. Professionally, love drives me to show up authentically for my clients, to see their potential, and to help them navigate their journeys with compassion and support. Living from a place of love requires vulnerability, but it also brings a profound sense of fulfillment and connection.
Confidence is the anchor that allows me to live from the lens of love and empathy. It’s the belief that I have my own back, no matter what. Confidence has been crucial in my journey, especially when stepping into new roles or facing challenges. It takes confidence to trust in the magic of the universe and to pursue my biggest desires, both personally and professionally. In my work, confidence enables me to guide others with assurance, helping them see their own potential and empowering them to take bold steps towards their goals. Personally, it gives me the strength to live authentically, even when it means going against the grain.
For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate these qualities in a way that feels true to you. Practice empathy by being present with others and yourself. Let love guide your actions, and trust that it will lead you to the right places. Build your confidence by honoring your strengths and learning from your mistakes, knowing that you are your own best support. When you align these qualities with your life and work, you’ll find that authenticity naturally follows, and with it, a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment. And know that as you are on your journey, I am rooting for you.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Research suggests that the power of one caring adult can change the trajectory of a life. Statistically, I wasn’t likely to end up successful, given the instability of my upbringing. But my aunt was a role model of love, strength, and courage. She believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself. What started as a desire to make her proud, evolved into something more profound. I realized that her belief in me was all it took for me to take risks and dream big.
My aunt’s support was the foundation that allowed me to build and develop the essential skills, qualities, and knowledge I needed to be successful. Her unwavering love and belief in my potential gave me the confidence to pursue my passions, even when the odds were stacked against me. She was more than just a role model; she was the living proof that one person’s belief in you can light the way forward, even in the darkest times.
Having a source of inspiration and someone who believes in you is the best gift anyone can receive in this lifetime. My aunt’s presence in my life taught me that love and support can transcend circumstances, and it’s a lesson I carry with me every day, both personally and professionally. Her influence has been a guiding force, helping me overcome challenges and inspiring me to live the life of my dreams. Now, inspired by her legacy, I aspire to be the person who believes in others, just as she believed in me, because I know firsthand the transformative power of unwavering support and belief.
