Meet Sierra Shingler

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sierra Shingler. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sierra, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I developed my confidence and self esteem when I realized I am still a beautiful person even when society doesn’t agree with how I look. My confidence comes from me completing so many goals while being plus sized. Your confidence grows when you achieve goals that you think aren’t reachable. Becoming a plus size model was a goal of mines that I achieved something I thought I would never be able to do but when you apply yourself and make a way to reach your goals there is a power you get, it’s the power of confidence and high self esteem and believing in yourself no matter what size or shape you are.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am an upcoming model from the DC region. I model for plus size brands and agency’s in DC and ATL. The most exciting part of being a plus size model is the photoshoots and bringing together art with my plus sized body. My plus size brand and modeling has allowed plus sized women like myself to be models even if you are not just a size 16. My modeling has allowed me to curate a plus size posing class where plus size girls like myself can come and get help with posing there bodies and feeling confident.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

My best advice for upcoming plus sized women wanting to model is to just start. Don’t think you’re too big or you need to change anything. Love yourself through the process. Get healthy mentally and physically. The three skills I used when starting out as a plus sized model is social media marketing, Model classes, and Content Creating. These three things will grow your plus sized model career. Be consistent with being creative.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My Husband has been my biggest cheerleader. When I first came to him and told him that I am starting my journey with plus sized modeling he was excited. He has supported me so much. He has help me feel confident when I haven’t felt my best or was afraid. It is always good to have someone in your corner rooting for you when the world won’t. I am so grateful for him. He has taught me no matter who is looking just be authentic.
