Meet Angela Benack

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Angela Benack a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Angela, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

It’s been my experience that things become the hardest right before success. The tough spot that seems like it will go on forever is the place where most people give up instead of re-concentrating their effort. In being a mom, wife, becoming a nurse & running a small business I’ve seen that victory is usually right over that tough spot & it only takes making a decision of commitment to make it through. I view challenges like a pie chart that’s 85% complete & push through to make that last 15% happen.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My name is Angela- mom, nurse & small business owner. At a family dinner in 2022 while chasing my youngest daughter, Callie, through a friends non-baby proofed home – inspiration struck.
Realizing that many moms and children had the same stressful experience when planning or attending an event – I knew there had to be a solution. From experience I knew that traditional play pens often resulted in power struggles and/or boredom, but also that my youngest was best behaved when engaged by something that interested her. Determined to test my theory-I created a colorful, gated play space for my daughter Callie’s first birthday party.

The day of the party- we were expecting at least a dozen toddlers & possible mayhem…. but to our surprise the play space was a hit! The children were engaged, interacting and behaved for the entire event- and the adults actually got to sit down! After many requests from the attending moms – I made the decision to start the mobile soft play company Sunshine Parties and Play.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I think that research is the most important asset to utilize when choosing to start a business.
Before I started Sunshine Parties and Play I spent hours researching regulations, equipment, market saturation etc.

Google is a great place to start, but don’t be shy to contact other companies in your field & ask questions!

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

We love collaborations & work with tons of amazing event planners & vendors! However we’ve recently began offering commercial soft play installations & our dream collaboration would be to partner with a company to create our own equipment!
