Meet Antonée Thomson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Antonée Thomson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Antonée, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Resilience has been the cornerstone of my journey, deeply rooted in my experiences as a competitive athlete, my educational pursuits, my career, and my role as a parent. Growing up as an athlete, I learned early on the value of working hard, pushing through tough moments, and embracing the concept of “failing forward.” Every loss was an opportunity to learn, to grow stronger, and to prepare for the next challenge. Wins, while celebrated, were also humble reminders that there’s always room for improvement. This mindset shaped not just my performance on the field, but also how I approach life’s challenges.

As I transitioned into my academic career, my passion for neuroscience fueled my desire to understand the complexities of the human brain and behavior. Pursuing a master’s degree in this field wasn’t just about acquiring knowledge; it was about challenging myself to dig deeper, ask more questions, adjust, and improve.

And throughout my career, I intentionally viewed every piece of constructive feedback as a gift—an opportunity to refine my thinking, skills, and grow. Whether the feedback was positive or pointed out areas for improvement, I saw it as a catalyst for development, helping me to continuously evolve in my career.

Finally but very importantly, parenting has been a profound teacher of resilience. Navigating the wild ride of raising two beautiful children, I’ve encountered adversity and challenges that have required me to dig deep and model resilience for my kids. It’s not just about getting through tough moments; it’s about showing them the importance of vulnerability, growth, bouncing back, and of fostering resilience. Parenting has reinforced my belief that resilience isn’t just something you have—it’s something you cultivate, day by day, moment by moment.

As grit and tenacity are values I hold dear, resilience is at the heart of who I am. I’m always learning and improving because, to me, that’s what it means to truly live. Resilience is not a destination; it’s a lifelong journey.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a Health Strategist & Founder of Lyrical Rise, a women’s health company dedicated to empowering women in midlife to take control of their health. My work focuses on holistic health across what I call the three Wellness Power Pillars: Nourishment, Movement, and Neurohealth. These pillars encompass everything from nutrition and mindset around food, to physical health and exercise, and finally sleep, mental, emotional, psychological, and social wellbeing.

What excites me most about my work is the opportunity to help women navigate the complexities of midlife with confidence and vitality. While many women share common experiences starting in midlife—brain fog, fatigue, weight gain, changes in body composition, mood swings—each woman’s journey is completely unique.

I strongly believe in the power of personalized care, which is why I intentionally limit my small groups to just six women. This allows me to not only provide education that helps women understand what’s happening in their bodies during perimenopause but also to build targeted action steps that are personalized to each individual.

One of the most exciting developments at Lyrical Rise is the launch of our “Midlife Mastery Series,” an expertly curated, 10-week online program designed to help women not just survive but truly thrive in midlife. This program is all about harnessing the power of community, education, and personalized support to help women regain their energy, strength, and sense of self. I’m incredibly passionate about this work because I see the transformation in the women I work with, and it’s a privilege to be a part of their journey.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three qualities have been truly impactful: resilience, a growth mindset, and the ability to connect deeply with others. These qualities have shaped not only my career but also my personal development, guiding me through the ups and downs and allowing me to continue evolving.

Resilience–pushing through adversity, learning from failures, and never giving up–has been my foundation. I developed this through years as a competitive athlete, honed through academic challenges, and solidified in my career and parenting journey. My advice to those early in their journey is to embrace challenges as opportunities for growth.

A growth mindset, my belief that skills and success can be achieved with effort, has been central to my journey as well. This mindset has allowed me to continuously learn, adapt, and improve, whether it’s been in pursuing a master’s degree in neuroscience or building my company, Lyrical Rise. For those starting out, I’d encourage you to approach every situation as a learning opportunity. Seek feedback, welcome constructive criticism, and always be curious.

Lastly, my ability to connect deeply with others has been invaluable. This is something I care so deeply about, and I lead with empathy. Connection is about truly understanding and stepping into others’ shoes, which has allowed me to create personalized, impactful health strategies for the women I work with. My advice is to focus on building authentic relationships. Listen more than you speak, and strive to understand others’ perspectives. Strong connections will not only support you but also enrich your journey in profound ways.

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?

My ideal client is a strong, determined woman in midlife—typically between late 30s to 60—who is navigating health challenges like fatigue, weight gain, fat around the midsection, sleep issues, brain fog, mood swings, and more.

She’s a busy professional who has noticed that the wellness approaches (exercises, nutrition, stress reduction techniques) that worked for her health in her 20s and 30s are no longer yield the same results. Recognizing that her body’s needs are changing, she’s deeply committed to finding new, effective strategies that align with this stage of life.

She values a personalized, sustainable approach to health, knowing that quick fixes aren’t the answer. She’s highly motivated to make lasting changes and appreciates the intimate, small-group setting that allows for deep connections as well as individualized health strategies. Ready to take courageous action, she sees me as a partner in her journey to transform her health and step into the next chapter of her life with strength and confidence.
