Meet Amanda French

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Amanda French. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Amanda with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I feel like I have always had a strong work ethic and I don’t know that it came from any one place. I believe my maternal grandmother had a good work ethic and I think that was passed on to my mother so I had them as role models. My faith also has played a big part in having that ethic. There are Bible verses that talk about it and working for the Lord and not men among other verses that speak to the benefit of hard work. I am also an Air Force veteran and my time in the military has also played a role.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I am a standup comedian, writer and anti-human trafficking advocate. I never really had any sort of career so now that I discovered my passion for comedy, I am pursuing it with all I can. I always loved to write and now that I am writing jokes, it’s been a fun new way to use my writing skills. One thing that has been super exciting for me is using my comedy in my volunteer work that I do in the realm of fighting human trafficking. I love doing comedy for a cause and the shows have been some of my most rewarding time in comedy. Doing comedy for fellow military veterans is another passion that I have. We need that laughter so much and I hope to do so much more of that.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I believe having a strong work ethic, determination and discipline have served me well. Don’t be afraid of hard work because there is something so rewarding about reaping the benefits of it. In my standup comedy journey, it would have been so easy to give up by now because there has been so much discouragement and rejection. Because of my determination, I have been able to carve out a path for myself in my local comedy scene. One thing I do is produce my own shows and it takes discipline to keep up with everything to stay on track. I just think you have to keep going and if something is important to you, then stay the path and stay strong.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I love bringing comedy to different venues and I love doing comedy for a cause. I am always looking for opportunities to expand. I would love to work with people looking for comedians for women’s conferences in churches and other places. I always love going to VFW’s and American Legions to bring comedy to fellow veterans. Also, since I am an older comedian, bringing comedy to senior citizens groups is another love of mine. The people I am looking to collaborate with are those wanting to bring comedy in any of these sorts of ways. My website is amandafrenchcomedy.net and my email [email protected].
