Meet Tacondra Brown

We recently connected with Tacondra Brown and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Tacondra, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

I believe that every woman possesses immense strength and resilience, like trees. Yet, sometimes life’s challenges can knock us down, cloud our vision, and hold us back from rebuilding, believing, and embracing our ability to bounce back. There have been many times in my life as an author, artist, transformational leader and coach when I found myself feeling completely lost after experiencing painful setbacks and unexpected life transitions. To the point where I didn’t recognize who I had become. The once confident, purposeful woman I knew became buried beneath layers of doubt, anxiety, and a deep sense of unworthiness because I felt derailed by disappointments—both in myself and in life circumstances I couldn’t control. I had spent years running from the real me, avoiding pain, bound by fear, and held captive by the chains of perfectionism. I found myself constantly striving for an unattainable version of success that left me feeling more empty than fulfilled.

There were days when the weight of it all made me want to give up entirely. My confidence wavered, and it felt like my purpose was slipping through my fingers. There were moments when I thought I would never recover, never rebuild, and never rise to the woman I was meant to be.

But here’s the truth that I’ve come to understand: recovery and transformation is possible, but only to the degree that you intentionally go after it. So I put in the work and began to renew my mind, acknowledging the toxic thoughts that held me back and replacing them with empowering truths. I gave myself permission to be human, to make mistakes, and to experience pain without allowing it to define me. And most importantly, I began to cultivate healthy resilience.

Resilience doesn’t happen overnight, and it certainly isn’t easy. It requires facing the parts of yourself that you’ve been running from, embracing discomfort, and choosing to keep moving forward even when everything in you wants to quit. I started small—one thought, one belief, one action at a time. Slowly, you’ll rebuild your confidence, rediscover your worth, and reconnect with your true identity. In my journey I’ve learned that resilience is not just about bouncing back; it’s about growing through the pain, learning from the disappointments, and allowing those experiences to shape you into a stronger, more whole version of yourself.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a versatile creative with multiple passions. As a recording artist my music is missional and very inspirational to those in their faith journey. My personal evolution has been a challenging one. Music captured my heart from a young age, with piano and violin playing, choir singing, and more. However, as I navigated adulthood, life’s complexities took their toll. Amidst painful realities, hurts, hardships, setbacks, and competing responsibilities, my passion for music, among other things, dwindled. The year 2021 became a turning point in my journey of rediscovery, thanks to my daughter’s influence. Witnessing her love for music and her creative endeavors rekindled my own musical flame. Through it all, the most profound lesson I’ve learned is to never cease believing in one’s identity, inherent worth, and the positive impact one can make in the lives of others simply by authentically being oneself.

I am also the founder of The Whole Woman Grove, where we guide transformational women on a journey to embrace authenticity, believe in their worth, and build a whole brand from the inside out. We help them shed limiting beliefs, live boldly, and lead with purpose, creating a personal brand that reflects their true essence and highest potential. As an author, writer, and coach, I am passionate about empowering creative and influential women between the ages of 35-55 to discover or rediscover their identity, activate their authenticity, align their personal brands, and fulfill their God-given purpose unapologetically.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back and moving forward into the future, three qualities that are the most impactful in my journey are resilience, authenticity, and mindset renewal. Each of these play a pivotal role in helping me not only navigate setbacks but also transform myself and my brand from the inside out.

Building resilience required me to face my fears, embrace imperfections, and remain steadfast in my pursuit of wholeness, even when the journey feels overwhelming. I would advise those early in their journey to start by embracing discomfort and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth. Every setback holds lessons that can build strength if you remain intentional in your pursuit of transformation.

Learning to embrace my true self, flaws and all, allowed me to align my personal brand with my values and purpose. I stopped running from my real identity and began living and leading boldly from a place of truth. The only way to do this is by spending time discovering your true self, not the version you think others expect. The more authentic you are, the more aligned your brand and life will become. Surround yourself with people and experiences that encourage and support your authenticity.

Renewing my mind was essential for shedding limiting beliefs that kept me stuck in fear and doubt about pursuing any of my endeavors. This mindset shift allowed me to believe in my worth, move past perfectionism, and truly step into my purpose. Be intentional about rewiring negative thought patterns. Regularly affirm your worth, replace self-doubt with empowering truths, and stay committed to personal growth. If you’re early in your journey my advice is to be patient with yourself, be consistent in pursuing growth, and understand that transformation doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a process, but with resilience, authenticity, and a renewed mindset, you can navigate every challenge and become who you’re meant to be.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed by life circumstances or my journey, I pray and focus on what I can control, letting go of what I cannot. I can control my actions, reactions, boundaries, thoughts, choices, and when to ask for help. I cannot control others’ feelings, thoughts, behaviors, decisions, or mistakes—nor the weather! This simple and effective strategy helps me overcome overwhelm.
