Meet Rachel Green

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Rachel Green a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Rachel, we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hopes that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
I don’t think mental health is spoken about enough. I myself have and currently deal with severe anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, etc. All of these things have definitely made life harder in most aspects but they also connect you with others and if there’s one thing that business relies on, is connection with clients. So I try to look at the positives that come from these “illnesses” and help whenever I can, which in return builds bonds.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Kooky Dough Co is my main focus. So that’s where a good part of my energy goes. Learning the foundation of running a business has also sparked my interest in starting another. So I took it upon myself to become a dog trainer. I’ve always wanted to work with animals and I thought this was right up my alley. My goal is to balance between both, so I don’t burnout doing one thing. I have a hard time just doing one thing when I have a love for lots of different interests.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Let’s see…3 things.. 1. You will have people who will wish you nothing but failure. Make sure you have your “WHY” engrained in your brain. So for the bad days you repeat it to yourself and get the motivation to keep going!

2. You are your worst enemy if you allow yourself to be. Negative thoughts bring negative things in your life and vice versa

3. Lastly, we are all going at our own pace in life. You don’t have to follow the masses. If someone is younger or older at a different point in their life, it doesn’t mean you need to be in the same position as them.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Growth and improvement have all been mental. Everything you do in life starts with the brain. Once that’s in order, or at least a constant work in progress is when you start to see a difference in everything around you.
