We were lucky to catch up with Rogers Healy recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Rogers, thanks for sitting with us today to chat about topics that are relevant to so many. One of those topics is communication skills, because we live in an age where our ability to communicate effectively can be like a superpower. Can you share how you developed your ability to communicate well?

Communicating is KEY. At Morrison Seger Venture Capital Partners, our goal is to create clear messaging and value with all of our brands. We believe that successful partnerships are built on active listening and communication. I believe that leading with empathy leads to mutual respect. The combination of clarity, continuous support and a respectful approach to life is key to effective communication and lasting partnerships.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Curiosity, confidence and resourcefulness are the KEYS to success.

Throughout my career, I have learned that no matter someone’s industry or experience, curiosity always opens the door. The person who asks the most questions wins.

Confidence is ESSENTIAL. The earlier you can learn to be the most confident version of yourself and trust your gut, the stronger you will be at communicating your value to potential investors or partners.

Lastly, RESOURCEFULNESS! It is an underrated skill. In my experience, the most successful founders and brands are the ones who know how to take a few lemons and make some SERIOUSLY good lemonade.
