We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mario Angel. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mario below.
Mario, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Welcome to LoudASF!
Our purpose emerged from a deep commitment to both music and community. We discovered it through our desire to bridge gaps in access and opportunity. At LoudASF, we are dedicated to empowering and inspiring the next generation of artists. We offer mobile recording studios and music education to those who might not otherwise have access due to financial constraints or limited resources.
Our mission is twofold. First, we focus on nurturing creativity and building confidence among youth through music production classes, instrument raffles, charity events, and collaborations with established artists. By providing these opportunities, we foster a supportive environment where young artists can thrive and contribute positively to their communities.
Second, we aim to bring professional-grade recording capabilities to artists and communities everywhere. By offering convenience, technical expertise, and a conducive environment, we eliminate barriers to high-quality recording and support artists in realizing their musical aspirations.
In essence, our purpose is to make music accessible and impactful, and that’s why we proudly say, “The World Is Your Studio!”
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
My journey into music began at a young age, and it was a love affair that started when I was just 12. I was fascinated by the process of playing instruments and experimenting with recording on a basic Windows computer. I remember layering tracks to create full songs, completely unaware that I was essentially producing music. As I grew older, I delved into more professional recording software and high-quality equipment, which allowed me to record both myself and other artists. The joy I experience when an artist’s vision comes to life is truly indescribable.
The COVID-19 pandemic brought significant challenges, slowing down business and creating hesitancy around recording due to health concerns. Adapting to these changes, I had an idea to innovate in response to the shifting landscape: a mobile studio business. I began taking my equipment to artists’ homes, rehearsal spaces, and even rented AirBnBs and outdoor parks. This approach allowed me to apply my audio engineering skills in diverse settings, making it possible for artists to record without having to travel to a traditional studio. LoudASF grew from this concept, providing a flexible solution that fits into the artists’ schedules and locations, breaking down the barriers of access and convenience.
In addition to the mobile studio, our mission includes empowering underprivileged youth. With financial challenges making it harder to access musical resources, we aim to offer a nurturing environment for aspiring young artists. We provide free music classes, organize charity events to raffle instruments, and create opportunities for youth to meet and learn from established artists. Our goal is to help them realize their dreams and reach their full potential, whether they aspire to be the next Dr. Dre, Jimi Hendrix, or Twenty One Pilots.
At LoudASF, we believe that music should not be confined to four walls. The world is an open canvas for musicians, and we’re here to help them grow and succeed wherever they are.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, three key qualities have been most impactful: personalized client engagement, proactive support beyond the studio, and effective promotion.
Firstly, our commitment to one-on-one interaction with clients has been crucial. We ensure that artists are involved in every stage of the process, from recording to the final mastered track. This level of engagement helps artists feel valued and understood, which is essential for their growth and satisfaction.
Secondly, we extend our support beyond the studio. We actively scout locations that match the artist’s style, help them secure performance opportunities, and guide them through the process of showcasing their music publicly. This hands-on approach not only enriches their experience but also allows them to feel the thrill of performing live.
Thirdly, effective promotion is vital. We leverage social media and other media platforms to boost the artist’s visibility and recognition. Our goal is to ensure that their journey doesn’t end in the studio but continues out into the world, where they can truly showcase their work and enjoy the process of sharing their creations.
For those early in their journey, I recommend focusing on these areas: prioritize personal engagement with your clients to build trust and understanding, provide support that extends beyond the core service to enhance their overall experience, and invest in strong promotion strategies to help them gain visibility. Developing these skills will not only strengthen your professional relationships but also foster a supportive community around your work.
By creating a strong sense of community and loyalty, we aim to help artists—and youth—realize their dreams and express themselves fully, both in learning and performing.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The number one challenge we faced was the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic was a major setback not only for our business but for many lives and industries. It forced us to rethink our approach to continuing our mission as a music studio.
In response, we developed the concept of a mobile recording studio to adapt to the new reality. This solution not only addresses the challenges of accessing traditional studio spaces but also allows us to bring music production directly to our clients, wherever they are.
Additionally, we recognized the broader impact of the pandemic on communities and families. To address this, we expanded our focus to include community support and youth empowerment. We aim to create a supportive environment where people can come together through music, even in these challenging times, and help nurture the next generation of artists.
Although the transition hasn’t been easy and communities continue to face difficulties, our mobile studio and community initiatives are steps toward overcoming these challenges and fulfilling our mission.
