Meet Julie Trinh

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Julie Trinh. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Julie , thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism comes from my parents, their sacrifices, and the deep rooted urge to fulfill a purpose in the world. I am a first generation Asian American. My parents immigrated from Vietnam after the war. They fled to an unknown country with empty pockets leaving behind their family and everything they knew for a better future. When they came to the United States they added me to the family. With an upbringing like mine, you can’t help but feel lucky to have an opportunity to live and create a life full of intentional meaning.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Hi, My Name Is Julie Trinh. I am based out of Omaha, Nebraska but my suitcase can be packed to travel at any time! I am on my eleventh year as a photojournalist.

I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Omaha with my Bachelors in Broadcast Journalism.

My lifelong goal is to earn the badge, “World’s Best Photojournalist.” In my free time outside of wedding photography, I like to travel and explore the world’s hidden gems.

Some of my favorite places to visit are Da Nang, Vietnam, British Columbia, Canada, Seattle, Washington, and the Grand Tetons, Wyoming.

I enjoy starting my day with a cup of coffee, listening to “Hipster BBQ” on Spotify, working out, trying new foods, and diving into a good book.
Telling stories and photography have both been lifelong passions of mine.

I love shooting romantic wedding days, landscape photography, authentic candids, and true-to-color photography.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Three of the most important qualities I found impactful on my entrepreneurship journey are communication, open-mindedness, and adaptability.

Communication is the most valuable skill to truly be a business owner. Everything begins and ends with clear goals. To truly understand your client’s needs you must listen and engage with intention. Open-mindedness is also important because you will have a million different ways something can be done. Without space for new changes there is no growth. I chose adaptability for the third skill because as a business owner you will need to move with the waves. Whether it be social media, SEO, podcast etc the changes are endless and you will need to keep up to stay relevant in the industry.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?

Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins and Atomic Habits by James Clear have been two of the most vaulable books that has helped me. Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins is an incredibly motivating story about mindset and inner self strength. Goggin’s focus on what we can achieve when we truly push ourselves beyond possible limits is very thought provoking and insightful. “You are in danger of living a life so comfortable and soft that you will die without ever realizing your true potential.” Atomic Habits by James Clear provides a much more guided tool on how to create habits that will inherently improve your life. Clear’s main message is small one percent habits that develop will overtime turn into mountains of improved change.
