Meet Janae Harrison

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Janae Harrison. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Janae below.

Janae, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My dad instilled in me the belief that I can do anything I set my mind to. This belief has helped me to persevere through many of life’s challenges like divorce, single parenting, being the spouse of a soldier, deployments, career changes, and starting my own business.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I help teenagers to navigate the challenges of adolescence through one on one life coaching. I feel strongly about teaching our youth life skills and emotional regulation tools. I provide a safe place for teens to feel seen and understood, relating to the anxiety and overwhelm they feel in our fast-paced world. I teach parents and children how to communicate with each other better. I love to create experiences where people can connect and relax like yoga and soundbath events.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Communication – Speak your truth in a tactful way with love as the driver of your intentions.
Life-Long Learning – Stay curious and willing to consistently improve and grow in all areas.
Connection – People are what matter! Put the most time into your relationships and how you treat people.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Create a morning routine that includes meditation and journaling. It is so important to create moments of stillness where you can connect with yourself and listen to your own needs and to receive inspiration. Then, reflect and write down the impressions that you receive.
