Meet Uzo Omenihu

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Uzo Omenihu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Uzo, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

While living in NYC as a teenager and through out my 20’s, I had to have confidence to survive there. NYC is a city that waits for no one, a city that was known as a “Concrete jungle” I faked confidence until it became real. I then went into a relationship that completely changed me. Coming out of that business partnership/marriage after 10 years I completely lost track of all of who I knew myself to be. For the first time in my life I felt lost, overwhelmed, anxious, insecure and deeply traumatized. It would take me years to feel like myself again. When I made the decision to leave, I knew there was no turning back. I took complete responsibility for my life which was very hard to do coming out of an unhealthy and codependent marriage. Once I took responsibility for my life the real work began. I wanted to know myself again, I wanted to feel confident again, so I focused on my fears, triggers and insecurities so that I could understand them so that I could face them. I studied my pain so that I could release them. I learned how to take care of myself in ways I had never done before. I learned how to trust my own voice again. I connected with my body in ways I had never done before. Learning about my connection with my body was a game changer for me! I learned that by taking really good care of my body my mind stays clear and as life comes I can now navigate the cycles in flow. This took a lot of trials, learning and practices to achieve and maintain. So, my journey back to my confidence, which is so real and different than what I thought real confidence was is one of the best journeys I have ever been on. Now I know what having confidence feels like and my self-esteem is in tact. Yes, self doubt can still show up, but it gets silenced by the real love I now have for myself and for my life experience. I feel deeply grateful for all that I have experienced in my life because without them I would not be who I am today. Another thing I learned is that confidence for me is trust, trust in life and self-esteem can function as a scale, some days you fell like you’re on top of the world and some days you may not and that has to be ok. And if you keep taking care of your mind, body and soul, you build the trust with life itself that you need to feel confident in your everyday life.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I have chosen to live a creative life. I own a fashion brand called OBI which is a Gender Inclusive fashion brand, www.obi.la and because of the self discovery journey I went on I also launched a Life Coaching Practice; https://stan.store/uzoomenihu. I was so excited about all the things I learned and wanted to share it immediately, which I quickly learned that not everyone is lost or is ready to go on a healing journey. I love working with my clients on finding balance again or maybe for the first time in their lives. My hope and goal is to be of service in some way because nothing else feels more fulfilling.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three most impactful areas of knowledge that served me in my journey are, becoming a Reiki 1&2 practitioner, Completing my Primordial Sound Meditation Teaching program and completing my Inner MBA program. What going through these programs thought me is how to connect to my body and my energy, spirituality and so much more. Going through the programs also helped me understand and heal my Internal systems.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

“The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle played an important role in my development because it cracked me open to life and “A Return to Love” by Marianne Williamson and All About Love by Bell Hooks were heart opening!
