Meet Dustin DAB Bowie

We were lucky to catch up with Dustin DAB Bowie recently and have shared our conversation below.

Dustin DAB, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
Being the only one in the room that “looks like me” is a situation I thrive in. Being from Alabama and dealing with all sorts of prejudices and discrimination, I’ve learned being different puts the attention on you and allows you to really grab people’s attention. Also more than likely, because I’m “different” people are interested to hear my opinion and potentially learn something new that they may not have had the perspective see before.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My name is Dustin DAB Bowie.. Multi Grammy Nominated award winning musician. Apart from music, I also work in film and other forms of entertainment. I’m excited to be able to learn things that will help me inspire others to love themselves and also learn ways they can be purposeful in life. I’m working on several projects within tech and sociology I’m excited to share with the world, one of which being SPOUT a machine that makes water out of the air. This will bring clean water to anyone anytime the world without needing a water source to supply it. Yes it’s as magical as it sounds. Look it up!!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Empathy Curiosity
Self Love

These 3 qualities have guided me through the trials and tribulations of life. Pay attention when these ask for it, and you should be golden!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am looking to collaborate with economic engineers, and other people who can structure entities that generate income from the things I’m passionate about. More than a business manager, I’d like to meet a literal business scientist!
