Meet Dr. Dayanara ( Day) Thompson, Dc

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Dr. Dayanara ( Day) Thompson, Dc. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Dr. Dayanara ( Day) below.

Hi Dr. Dayanara ( Day) , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?

This is a powerful reflection on authenticity, growth, and overcoming bias. Here’s a revised version of your narrative that tightens the flow and highlights your key points:

**Being the Only One in the Room**

I’ve learned that being effective and successful, even when I’m the only one in the room who looks like me, comes down to staying true to myself. I don’t change based on who I’m around or my circumstances. People value authenticity, and I make sure to embody that in everything I do. I also have a love for learning and growth, which means I approach these situations as opportunities to either educate someone or be educated by them.

An important lesson I’ve learned is to set my own value and not allow others’ opinions to dictate who I should be. I recall one instance at a campaign dinner in San Francisco for my district supervisor. The conversation turned to my admission into medical and chiropractic programs. Being one of the only people of color there, I was approached by a group of women who thanked affirmative action and diversity admissions for my opportunity to be admitted. They didn’t know me, but they judged me based on my appearance.

They were unaware of the hundreds of hours I had dedicated to community service, the programs I started in San Francisco to help my community, or the fact that I was one of only five honors students in the science department at CSU East Bay. They didn’t know about my work experience or connections, and frankly, I wasn’t going to explain myself or prove my worth to them. Their opinion was just that—an opinion, not based on fact, logic, or reason.

My brand, Align Your Vibes, reflects that same principle. Being in alignment means that regardless of someone’s status, if you find yourself in the same place at the same time, there’s a similarity in vibration that brings people together. My mother always taught me that the more successful you become, the more envy you may encounter. But instead of allowing that to jade me, I use it as fuel to continue being myself and striving for greatness.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Thank you for the opportunity to share my story and passion. I’m deeply excited to introduce Align Your Vibes, our new holistic wellness center. This has been a dream of mine for years, and seeing it come to life feels like such an alignment of everything I’ve worked for.

At Align Your Vibes, we focus on empowering people on their healing journey through a holistic approach that encompasses physical, mental, emotional, and social wellness. What makes our center truly special is our commitment to getting to the root cause of each person’s unique issues, so they can experience lasting wellness and transformation. We offer a wide range of services, including chiropractic care, massage, functional holistic nutrition, therapy, and wellness classes like stretch, breathwork, meditation, and yoga. Each service is designed to foster a sense of community and promote social wellness, which I believe is a crucial part of overall health.

One of the things I’m most excited about is teaching our somatic informational stretch class, which is a blend of somatic therapy and muscle recovery. This class helps patients not only release physical tension but also connect with their bodies on a deeper level, facilitating emotional release and healing. It’s incredibly rewarding to watch patients become the best versions of themselves through these practices.

We also offer a line of holistic wellness products aimed at relaxing the mind, body, and soul. These products go beyond simple aromatherapy by providing an olfactory experience that helps users shift into their highest selves. Our goal is to create a sanctuary where people can heal, grow, and stay inspired on their journey to wellness.

As we look ahead, we’re excited to continue expanding our vision and mission. We’re planning new events, product launches, and services that will further enhance our offerings and help more people align their vibes with their highest potential. We’re just getting started, and the future feels incredibly bright.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three qualities and skills that have been most impactful in my journey are adaptability, not taking things personally, and trusting the process (faith). Here’s why they’ve been crucial, along with advice for those who are just starting their journey:

1. **Adaptability**: Life is unpredictable, and the ability to adapt to new situations is essential. You have to become as flexible as your environment and allow yourself to handle whatever life throws your way. The key is to give yourself time to reflect on these experiences so that you can use your adaptability to your advantage. Each challenge is an opportunity to learn how to handle similar situations more effectively in the future. My advice? Embrace change and let it shape you into a stronger version of yourself.

2. **Not Taking Things Personally**: Whether in life or business, we never truly know what someone else may be going through. Sometimes, decisions or outcomes have nothing to do with us, even though it might feel personal. When faced with rejection or setbacks, it’s essential to remind yourself that what’s meant for you will come. If you get a “no,” don’t take it to heart—the right “yes” will come along, often better than what you originally had in mind. Stay focused on your path, and let the opinions of others roll off your back.

3. **Trusting the Process (Faith)**: In our pursuit of success, it’s easy to get fixated on the destination and miss the beauty of the journey itself. Trusting the process means believing that everything happens in its own time and for a reason. Often, the wisdom and knowledge we gain along the way are more valuable than the end goal. My advice is to have faith in your journey, even when the road is tough. Trust that every step is leading you toward where you’re meant to be, and be open to the lessons you learn along the way.

For those early in their journey, cultivating these qualities will help you navigate the ups and downs with resilience and grace. Adapt, don’t take things personally, and trust that everything is unfolding just as it should.
