We were lucky to catch up with Mik Raibon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Mik, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Prior to 2020, my life was on a predictable path. I had an engineering degree from Stanford and an MBA from Columbia. I was moving my way up the corporate ladder and thought I would one day be a top executive. However, life had different plans. Following an unexpected layoff from my job in brand marketing during the pandemic, I was left trying to find my footing in life. I had a pregnant wife and a young daughter, and the world was surrounded in fear around the COVID-19 virus.
Over the course of the next few months, I was introduced to a Reiki master and an herbalist who helped me find the path toward mindfulness and spirituality. I trained in Reiki, learned to play sound healing instruments, started a meditation practice, and started connecting more with nature. In the course of this exploration, I had a very profound dream that connected me with my ancestors and led me to focus on the healing work that I do now. I have created healing spaces for groups, individuals, and companies through a variety of offerings.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My mission is to guide busy professionals to overcome anxiety, feelings of being overwhelmed, and feeling unheard. I use a unique blend of energy healing, breathwork, sound healing, guided meditation and intuitive messages to help my clients not just cope, but thrive. I offer 1:1 sessions, monthly group programs, men’s retreats, and private corporate sessions, all designed to empower my clients to discover their authentic selves and break free from their limitations.
My newest offering is a guided nature immersion that brings my clients into an intimate relationship with nature. I walk my clients through how to ground and connect with the earth in a meaningful and mindful way. Studies show that forest bathing has tremendous health benefits but we don’t always take advantage of this medicine. I want to make having a relationship with plants and animals more common and more accessible.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Trust – It was really scary to step into entrepreneurship but I had to trust that me and my family would be provided for if I just continued to show up and stand in my purpose. Learning this level of trust was a very spiritual process for me and one that continues to pay dividends.
Patience – I have a reputation for being impatient and wanting things to happen on my timing. This journey has taught me how to wait on divine timing and allow things to unfold at their own pace. Greatness can’t be rushed.
Meditation – There have been many times in this journey where I felt overwhelmed. It seemed like I had way more tasks to complete than I could possibly get to. It was in those moments that I relied on meditating to keep me centered and focused on taking everything one step at a time.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is a busy professional in their mid-life who is feeling overwhelmed and stressed by their demanding career and personal life. They live a fast-paced lifestyle and are often juggling work and family responsibilities. They are seeking personal growth and development and are motivated to find more meaning and purpose in life. Committed to self-improvement, they are willing to invest in their health and happiness.
