Meet Madison Lunde

We were lucky to catch up with Madison Lunde recently and have shared our conversation below.

Madison, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My name is Madison Lunde, and when people ask where my resilience comes from, there’s a lot they might not know. I was diagnosed at birth with neonatal abstinence syndrome, meaning my mother used drugs during pregnancy, and I was born addicted. This has shaped my life in many ways. Kids born with neonatal abstinence syndrome often face tough challenges, but I’ve come a long way, and I’m beyond grateful for each day I’m blessed with. I truly believe I’m here for a reason, and I hope my story reaches at least one person who needs to hear it.

Growing up, I faced many obstacles but always remained passionate about helping children. Some say I have a gift for working with kids, and I’ve spent over five years in ABA therapy, helping special needs children thrive. Currently, I’m pursuing a master’s in social work, driven by my deep commitment to mental health advocacy. My goal is to one day open a therapy center for children who lack strong advocates, ensuring they get the support they need to succeed.

Along the way, I discovered permanent jewelry and decided to start a business. Despite juggling full-time school, a full-time job, and growing this business, I fell in love with it. I never imagined it would grow into what it is today. As I reflect on a year of business, I realize how much I’ve overcome and how capable I truly am. I still face struggles every day, but my goal is to use my experiences to inspire others to keep pushing forward and believe in themselves.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am the owner of Heart of Gold Jewelry, a permanent jewelry business. What sets my brand apart is not only the high-quality materials we use—14K gold-filled and sterling silver that doesn’t tarnish—but also the personal touch we bring to every event or appointment. Whether it’s a private party or a special occasion, we create a unique, memorable experience by dressing for the occasion and gifting a free bracelet to the person being celebrated. We believe in making our customers feel special and connected, which has been key to our success.

What excites me most about my work is the ability to connect with people on a personal level. Jewelry is deeply personal, often tied to special moments in people’s lives, and I love being part of that. Beyond the aesthetic and material aspects, I see Heart of Gold Jewelry as an extension of my passion for connection and community.

Currently, we’re preparing for a very special event which is a huge milestone for me—my first anniversary celebration at Kindred & Co. on September 28th from 4-8. We will have a rooftop sorre, live music, lots of vendors, free gifts, and giveaways you can enter when you are there. We’ll be donating all proceeds from the giveaway ticket sales to a local non-profit organization called Madewithkidnessfoundation. Something I feel strongly about as part of our brand’s mission. Giving back to the community is a core value for me, and it’s something I plan to continue as the business grows.

Looking ahead, I’m excited to announce that I’m exploring opportunities to expand my brand by introducing new services—stay tuned for more details soon! This business has given me more than I could have ever imagined, and now I want to share that journey with others. My hope is to inspire someone to realize that no matter where you come from or what you’ve been through, it’s how you handle it that truly matters—and that you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Starting a business has required me to be flexible and willing to learn on the go. Things rarely go as planned, and the ability to pivot and adapt quickly has been crucial. I encourage those starting out to stay open to change and be willing to adjust their plans when needed. Adaptability allows you to grow with your business and stay ahead of challenges.

Whether it’s in my school studies or learning the ins and outs of the jewelry business, a passion for continuous learning has kept me moving forward. My curiosity and desire to grow have driven me to seek out new knowledge and skills. My advice is to never stop learning—whether it’s through formal education, mentorship, or hands-on experience. Stay curious, keep asking questions, and actively seek out opportunities to expand your knowledge.

Since starting Heart of Gold Jewelry, I’ve faced significant challenges, but I refused to let them hold me back. Standing up for myself, even when it was tough, was one of the hardest yet most empowering experiences I’ve had. It reaffirmed my belief in what I’m doing and strengthened my determination to succeed. My advice to others is to build resilience by embracing failure as part of the journey and learning from it. Hard times will come, but it’s your response to them that ultimately defines your success. Don’t ever let someone bully you out of something that you love.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We are always open to collaborating with other businesses and individuals who share our values. We would love to partner with businesses that are interested in hosting events with us, whether it’s pop-up shops, private parties, or community-focused initiatives. We’re especially drawn to working with people who are kind, value integrity, and are passionate about standing up for what’s right—just like us.

If you’re reading this and feel aligned with our mission, we’d love to connect and explore ways we can collaborate. You can reach out to us directly through our website or social media, and we’ll be excited to discuss ideas for creating meaningful and impactful events together.
