Meet Sergio Acevedo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sergio Acevedo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sergio below.

Sergio, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

Growing up I didn’t have much. I started working at an early age to get the things that I wanted. I learned back then that if you quit you will never be successful or get the things you deserve. Through many trials and tribulations, and rejections I fought hard to get where I’m at now. My life experiences is where I get my resilience from.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I moved here 9 years ago from Miami to pursue modeling and acting. After countless castings and auditions throughout the years I am very grateful of where I’m at in my career. I’ve done many campaigns, commercials, short films, and everything in between. For the last three years I’ve been working on an independent feature film called The Greatest @thegreatest_movie I am one of the lead actors, I helped produce, and I casted the film. We are currently making our rounds in the film festival circuit. Our film will be premiering here in NYC at the Soho Film Festival September 18th and in Atlanta on October 1st at the Out on Film festival. I am very proud of the work we accomplished in this film. My director Ryan Sarno and I have another project we are working on currently. I grew up watching movies. I immersed myself in the film world and dreamed of being in them. It’s so exciting and emotional to know that I am living my dreams. As an actor we are story tellers and to see the reaction of audiences from a performance, its so fullfilling that I am able to do what I do. @flowgio

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

You are forever learning, be a sponge and gain knowledge always, build solid relationships, and never give up.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

You need to have positive people in your circle. People who uplift you and don’t bring you down. You can’t do everything in your own. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
