Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Joshua Jackson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Joshua, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
I started my journey on Instagram 5 years ago. After my divorce and separation from the military. My goal was to be a famous fitness trainer. I gained some popularity a few jobs and plenty of independent clients. I was very flashy with my success I got a job at a living assistant facility I got humbled because I realized that what I do really impacts how others view themselves I learned that faith and spirit doesn’t like ego, and that if I don’t lead correctly I won’t be rewarded. I stopped posting on my social media so I could do self soul searching and realized the root reason of why I wanted to be a FAMOUS trainer and not just a successful one there is a difference! I Found that I did have a gift of influence as a Christian but I’m no preacher I began running more I feel I love with that so much I run 6 miles a night. I learned yoga and I’m now a instructor teaching others. I still am a personal trainer a good one but I don’t tell and show my every move. During that transition I did feel empty at times because I didn’t get that dopamine from my followers but I trusted my gut ! I just worked as a trainer and studied about spirit yoga and exercise. Jesus touched many but didn’t brag so I like to be like that. Now I still created content but it’s ONLY to help people and not boost my ego ! I learned my actual purpose is to teach yoga and meditation so now I make content doing that and it brought me out of my funk and brought passion back yo my work. It was not easy going through the growth stage but patients is key! Joshua 1.9 “namaste “
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a personal trainer at heart I help people get in shape I’m gifted at motivating people to be there best ! I’m also a new yoga instructor and I love teaching yoga especially to those who have never tried it before ! Best way to reach me is my websites jacksonelitefitnesss.com or primitiveaura.com ! Namaste
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Military experience helps me get through tough times. College education made me a better reader and better test taker. Work experience from where ever you can get it I’ve had all kinds of jobs and still work for people. You can read all the books but being in front of a real person solving real problems is something you just have to get out and do.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Learning how to deal with negative emotions. I was a people pleaser I had to learn that it’s ok to be upset sometimes it’s how you deal with your energy and when you display it. I smile everyday I don’t take it out on others when I’m in a funk. Meditation and running really help me.
